Buying a generator

Going to be buying a generator (Honda EU2000) for tailgating this fall, and since they're not the cheap... does anyone know somewhere to get any good deals on these?
What I see as options right now:
1. Home Depot for $999, and get 5% off and I know they have a good return policy if I happen to have issues with it, and I can pick up in store. 2. Northern Tool for $999, plus they have a deal right now where I'd get a $200 egift card back as well, and free shipping. 3. Craiglist and Ebay are a joke, most people selling there want about $900 for something that looks like it's been run over.
Leaning toward Northern Tool, but would be a while before I'd use the gift card, and would be hard to sell an e-gift card if I went that route. But first wanted to see if anyone else knew of a better source.

There's three near me, and they never seem to have any. Occasionally have a Ryobi, or other less reputable brand.

The Northern Tool deal is a great one. I've never seen a new one for <$999.
Had mine for 6 years and it cranks on first pull. Just do the maintenance on it and use treated or non-ethanol gas.

Price the Yamaha too! It is highly rated and usually cheaper than the Honda.

Permitted at tailgates. Do not draw attention to yourself.
Fyi.. What are you running?
These newer "jump boxes" are awesome. I ran a 32 inch led TV and direct TV box off a cRappy one at the Oklahoma game for like 6 hrs.

To start just a TV, fan, lights. But I want to be able to add to that if I decide to. Looked into deep cycle batteries, and to get good life from the batteries (only 50% drain), a charger, and inverter would set me back about $400 and the life of the batteries would still not be near that of a generator, and I couldn't add much to it if I wanted in the future without added cost.

And charger. I don't know why any one would still be dealing with deep cell batteries.
But you are right. Generator gives you more freedom to plug in whatever you want.

aren't going to find them discounted. Honda has an elite product and they know it. The Northern Tool deal is probably about as good as you are going to find. I could spend $200 in a heart beat there.
If you aren't 100% against a knock-off, we also have one of these and it's pretty good. http://www.harborfreight.com/2500-peak2200-running-watts-47-hp-125cc-portable-inverter-generator-61169.html
It's a little bit bulkier and not quite as quiet as the EU2000, but we haven't had any trouble with it.

That way you'd have the cash now and still end up at 10% off.

Detroit 471 ...and here's why : 1. Loud ( 88-94 Db) 2. No automatic shutdown , but you can rig it up on your own with a couple small adjustments . 3 . Slings oil from every conceivable cranny , even those you'd think probably don't circulate oil . ( Might wanna grab a couple 5 gallon buckets of Delo 400 10 W40 for the game , these babies bleed ! ) 4 . Weigh approximately 850 lbs apiece and will require a separate flatbed for hauling . Hope you bought a second parking pass for your buddy the green monster , but hey ... electric don't come cheap ! 5 . Diesel powered . We run marine grade low sulphur , but you'll need approximately 200 gallons for a 6 hr experience , and with the smoke and noise this bashtard pukes out your gonna have that experience , and so will pretty much everyone else in your lot .
Hope I've sold ya ! The tugboat industry has been lit up with Detroit Deisel KW power for many years ...and I just wanted you to know how good it could be
People helping People !

Update!

Had already ruled out the Yamaha since I found better deals on the Honda.
But did a rather quick search and found this deal: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Yamaha-EF-iS-Portable-Generator/716349.uts This is the 2015 model, the 2016 is "EF2000ISv2", but the two are pretty much identical. You'll have to find a store with remaining inventory though. Luckily I was able to find one today.

Better hurry before they run out. That is a heck of a deal on the Yamaha, even less than I paid for mine and I work at a dealership! However, they are a deal because they are a closeout item. Yamaha recently updated the EF2000 generator to include a higher initial surge. The one here is the old style, but it will work great for tailgating. I have been using one just like it for the past three seasons.
