Traffic & Logistics for a 9:30 parade?

Jan 10, 2017, 9:29 PM

Am I the only one wondering how on earth they will handle traffic and parking for a 9:30am parade? We are bringing young children and to me this sounds like a recipe for a VERY early morning. Obviously I've never experienced something like this, but compare this to home games - even a noon game allows several hours for traffic to trickle in. What about this - EVERYONE will be coming at the same time?

Based on the unbelievable enthusiasm with fans, I would expect enormous attendance for this. So that said - how do they handle a crowd at least the same size, if not much much larger, as a game....and all of it coming at once?

I was kind of wondering that myself

We are coming from Ft Mill and I was curious as to where to park, etc.

What part of parade route would be ideal? What exactly is going on at Valley afterwards?

I figured I could get there at 9:15

and park right at the corner of Williamson and Avenue of Champions and walk down and plop my fold up chair somewhere down that sidewalk.

Seriously, though.. They do need to let people know what roads will be closed and what times they plan on closing them.

My thing is...if 60, 80, 100 (?) thousand people attend this thing it'll be all at once and traffic will be insane. On one hand, it ISN'T a game so maybe not everyone will come (?). On the other hand...first Championship in 35 years and excitement around the game has been insane.

WYFF has more details:

Stadium opens at 7:30am and they will replay the game on the screen.

Parade starts at 9am. Starts at College Ave, ends at the Stadium.

Celebration in the stadium at 10:30 with Clements, Radakovich, Swinney, and several players expected to speak.

Funniest line from this story:
"Officials are urging people to watch the parade from inside the stadium instead".

Uhm...I thought "lining the streets" is the definition of a parade?

1. Wonder if accommodations for parking will be made? When you think about a football gameday, students move their cars out of all IPTAY lots. How on earth could they accommodate the crowds without doing the same thing on Saturday?

2. What's the point of a parade if you don't want people lining the streets? Why didn't they just say "stadium party" to begin with?

I was wondering this myself. I plan on picking up a girl Friday night.

I don't want to hit traffic the next morning heading home. Maybe I'll have her come back to my place.
