We all now know that the Heisman award is nothing more than a popularity contest that has nothing to do with what John Heisman was about or gave to college FB. They just the Heisman name to front their popularity award, P E R I O D! ! ! ! What began as a great award for a great college FB player has become a Forrest that will never be seen again because of the blinding tree's of money that buys a popularity candidate that has nothing to do with being a great FB player, and they have disgraced the name of a great college FB coach, John William Heisman!!!

Can't believe they didn't even mention

1987 Gordie Lockbaum - RB,
Holy Cross finished 3rd to Tim Brown - WR,
Notre Dame and Don McPherson - QB,
Syracuse. He played both ways and was spectacular!

We all know 2 others shouldn't have won it and one that didn't deserve it at all. That's all I'm gonna say about that!

Yes.....Gordie Lockbaum. What a football player. Only came off the field a few plays a game. Played both ways and returned punts and kickoffs.

George Rogers was a great back at u5s in 1980 but look at Hershel Walkers numbers for that same season. Freshmen just were not going to be awarded the trophy.

for me it has to be derrick Henry. anyone could put up the numbers he did if they got 400 carries also. its not a "who got the most carries" award

Not only is it a popularity contest these days, the front runners are selected in the off season and it's won in the 1st half of the season.
