It was a screwing for the ages, that play more than likely determined who won the game.

Bad call but imho if Detroit was the better team, it wouldn't have came down to one call.

How about the Stafford fumbles? No influence on the outcome?

Jan 6, 2015, 10:15 AM

Detroit had other chances to put the game away and didn't. The PI call did influence the outcome of the game, but it could be argued that EVERY play in a game influences the outcome one way or the other.

Teams play themselves into a position to be victimized.

If they played better earlier on things would have been different. We used to do that a lot when Bowden was here.

Refs rarely call a personal foul in those situations and would never in the playoffs.

Jan 7, 2015, 3:36 PM [ in reply to The helmet less rule applies to players who took part in the play... ]

Now: "Dean Blandino clarified the Bryant play Monday, telling NFL Network and Mike Florio that it’s up to the judgment of the officials if a player who comes off the sidelines helmetless should be penalized. If a player on the field takes his helmet off after a play, he is to be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. If a player comes off the sideline without his helmet, Blandino said the officials have a choice: If the player argues and is belligerent, he should be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. If he argues mildly or does something else, that is up to the officials’ discretion."

Tigerking is right.

Lions got away with 3 PI on their defense and gotta away with roughing the Cowboys punter...

Jan 6, 2015, 1:46 PM

Also on the controversial call Pettigrew grabbed the face mask of Hitchens, so it actually would have been offsetting penalties for the correct call. Lions lost because they failed to take advantage of the bad first half Dallas had, plain and simple, and Stafford is a turnover machine.

Lions also got away with 73 holding penalties

Detroit got away with roughing the punter and 3 PI's and a few holds by their oline...

Jan 7, 2015, 2:17 PM

Refs didn't decide anything, the Lions did by not taking advantage of the terrible first half by Dallas had, playing against an injured Romo who lacked velocity on his passes, and Stafford for turning the ball over 3 times.
