Thoughts on Blue Heron in Clemson?

Oct 2, 2017, 11:19 PM

reviews are pretty decent. Any recent experiences Friday night before the home games? Long waits?

Blue Heron is a very nice restaurant. I go there at least once a year and eat when I am in town. Food is very good. Hope that helps!

Noisy upstairs

Oct 3, 2017, 12:07 AM

If you call for reservations, ask them for a table that is NOT upstairs in the "loft". It gets really noisy up there when the place is full.

I understand

they do NOT have a chocolate wonderfall. I mean.....come on!!! I prefer to stand in line with 300lb people watching them dip all manner of food into a chocolate fountain. Watching dirty kids covered in spaghetti'o face dip their fingers in the chocolate is especially appealing.
OH well....back to the Golden Corale for me

If you went into the kitchen in most restaurants you would not eat the food.

enjoy it while you can...

Oct 3, 2017, 6:53 AM

My understanding is the property is going to be redeveloped soon. The Blue Heron/Sunny side Cafe, the little row of shops next to them, and the Astro are all coming down for... you guessed it... MORE CONDOS.

I would assume they will relocate (Sunny Side is) but I don't know where.

My understanding is the Heron will be on the first floor of the condos with some other retail stuff.

Old news. Developers have pulled out for now. Several changes by City may change the shape of these structures going forward. For now all of that area remains unchanged (Sunnyside may still head to PS). As for BH, we always go down stairs. Smaller but more fun. Same food plus lots of TVs.

Sunny Side

Is moving to Patrick Square.

To the OP, yes, BH is good, and relatively inexpensive for what you get. The wait can be long, even with a reservation, but it’s worth it and you can enjoy a drink or two down in the bar. The loft is definitely noisy, but so was our table of 12 two weeks ago.

I recommend a steak. I’ve had a couple prepared different ways. The strip special was incredible. Enjoy.

WL

You'll probably see Oliver purnell there.

Oct 3, 2017, 7:26 AM

He used to eat there a lot. Maybe he still does.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Food is excellent. We go whenever in town.

Oct 3, 2017, 8:46 AM

You have to make a reservation. It's always packed. Also, bar area downstairs is very nice - quieter than upstairs and you can have the same menu. Great place for happy hour.
