This news is “vindication” for Elizabeth Warren?

Fortunately I don’t need to get too deep into the “Native American blood” thing with Warren. Her policies and political philosophies disqualify her as it is (for me, obviously). So I’m not sure exactly what her claim has been in terms of “having Native American blood”. Was it this? That there is a Native American somewhere from 6 to 10 generations back on her ancestry? If so, kudos to her. But so what? Has she claimed Native American heritage as a result? Some understanding of their lives? Did she claim to be a minority?
Can you imagine if a Republican claimed that level of Native American heritage? They would be laughed off the stage. Or worse, imagine if you claimed African American heritage because you were somewhere from 1/32nd to 1/512th African American.
Anyway, just thought it was funny. It will be entertaining to see what comes of it if she wins the nomination.

Then I have native american bloodlines too. First place I ran across it was with the original Jamestown settlers. One married a native american, think she was the daughter of a local chief or something, don't remember exactly. Makes me like 1/647th native American, probably.
Still waiting for my casino check to arrive.

surveyed Native Americans or African Americans and asked if a white lawyer claimed that they were Native American or African American based on one family member 6 to 10 generations back, if that would be okay to them.
Doesn’t that look bad regardless?

First, it does not appear that this “rule” applied to Native Americans. But even if it did...
Second, it’s 2018.
Third, it’s the politics of the use of Native American heritage that apply. No one forced her to claim that heritage because her blood was impure. She claimed it to leverage her minority status, or so the university could (I assume). The question I’m asking is does this vindicate her? Is she going to get on the stump and proudly proclaim that she claimed to be a minority because of a Native American 6 to 10 generations ago?

Honestly, you'll probably find most of us who had ancestors settle here pre-Revolution have some Native American blood in us. My genetics test says I do.

If she claimed to be african american she'd have to be verified 1/16th AA to qualify, unless it's changed in the past 50 years. To get Cherokee casino money one has to be verified 1/16th Cherokee before they'd write the first check. The best Pocahontas could be verified to be is 1/32nd. Good luck her cashing in on that.

I think it means Trump needs to get out his checkbook...
