This is the LAST DAY for me...

Feb 25, 2015, 9:34 AM

no - you're not getting rid of me that easy. I am RETIRING TODAY!! The hourly countdown has begun. :)

No more wake-up calls in the middle of the night and weekends.

No more solving problems for people who don't know how to do their job (even though I was paid well to do that).

No more frustrating commutes.

No more wishing I could be outside doing something fun instead of trapped in my cubicle.

I could go on and on forever, but I guess I'll just GO ON. :)

Tick-Tock.

Worst day at work had to be 2-3 years ago when it snowed us in, and I was on-call so I had to stay overnight as we have to provide 24x7x365 coverage. The problem was, I wasn't prepared with change of clothes, etc. and nobody could get in to relieve me for 2.5 days. So I had to sleep on a small couch or at my desk and stay there in the same clothes for 2.5 days. Of course I had to fix all the problems while I was there. It was more than 1 day - but it felt like one long day to me.

Best day at work (other than TODAY) was the day I met my wife of 32 years. While walking thru my office, I saw an incredible woman and that vision is still burned into my brain. I've known her for almost 35 years now, and she's still just as awesome as the day I met her. I still have no idea what she ever saw in me though, or how she puts up with me.

Congrats, its a great change. My wife also a CU grad is retiring Friday. I got out of the rat race in 2007. On the downside, the dog and I will no longer have run of the house during the day.

Oddly enough, I found out when I retired that you don't have time to do everything. I told my wife I was going back to work because I had more time to do stuff.

Tnet name though. Please tell me you weren't involved
in the streaking fad in the mid 70s. Say it isn't so.
But if so, we all did some crazy stuff back in the day. :)

three-peater, meaning I've retired three times only to get fed up with it...and returned to work.

When I embarked upon this latest venture, I decided the heck with it: I'll work at least parttime, and if I croak while on the job, then so be it. Maybe, it's knowing that I don't have to work that makes the working more enjoyable. lol
