in denial all you want. The truth is that Clemson should not have to settle for this. Take that new arena money and go get a real coach. Hell I would rather have lady softball over this sh#t!

There are many reasons that
Clemson basketball is not a prominent program. Alot of those reasons may be better left unsaid. However the number one reason to me is not enough Clemson sports fans care enough to support the program for better or worse. Most will only support a winner and only when we are playing against a formidable opponent. Otherwise they can't be bothered to get to game. Thanks.

Saw many posts about us blowing a big lead yesterday, but the bottom line, they hung on for the win. I still remember the game against Illinois under Purnell where we were up 20 or 21 at halftime and Illinois came back for the win. And the reason, Purnell didn't coach, he just ran his players up and down the court as fast as they could go. Purnell's press would rattle teams at first, but once a team (and the ACC) figured it out, Purnell made no adjustments and other teams would kick our butt, just as Illinois rallied and beat us in that game.
It is refreshing to still watch teams under Brownell come out from a time out and actually run a play. I never saw that with Purnell teams. Time outs were just a chance to catch their breath as far as I could tell. Yes, Purnell did succeed initially but as the other coaches figured out what he was doing, we started falling behind. Brownell is a real coach and he does amazingly well with the talent we can get on campus. I think in the Duke game the announcers said there were 9 McDonald All-Americans on their current roster? Heck, I would challenge that we haven't had 9 of those recruits at Clemson in the history of our basketball program. That isn't Brownell's fault, as no one was able to recruit that type of talent consistently before him to play basketball at Clemson. So, we need a coach like Brownell who can AT LEAST coach with the talent we can bring in.
After watching the Heels kick our butt in the first ACC game of this season, I honestly thought we had no chance winning more than a few games and so to be at 8-8 just again demonstrates his coaching ability. So yes, I'll defend the heck out of his coaching abilities. GO TIGERS!
