Completely no bias question ..all answers welcome

Sep 28, 2018, 1:51 PM

I've considered myself independent a majority of the time. I think there are great people with great ideas on both sides, and there are awful, clueless cons on both sides.

However, I think the office of Presidency's core mission should always revolve around military, the economy, and safety. These are the things that keep a nation standing.

I don't always agree with Trump and I don't always agree with Obama (mainly with the identity politics) though I think both have good ideas. Didn't care much for Bush, Clinton or Carter.

With that said, I think Trump has great ideas on the economy. One of the biggest flaws over the last few decades has been the loss of manufacturing. This is the foundation of a nations economy, and China clearly outsmarted/bought our officials.

My question here is: how else could we truly restore an economy and prosperity with the loss of all these manufacturers/jobs/opportunities over the last 3 or so decades? Socialism doesn't work--a welfare state creates entitlement/lazy/unambitious people which is asking for the fall of a nation. My main issue with Obama was the the lack of care here. I thought he was nice and had great personality, but that doesn't mean anything if you're consistently building deficits. And to his credit, he had very little to do with the onslaught of these losses. Presidents from BOTH sides have been Chief while this has happened. But he also didn't seem to care and did very little to help.

Trump isn't perfect, he's far from it. He shoots himself in the foot with his mouth. And to be honest, he probably isn't even a republican at heart but that was the platform necessary to go against Hillary. But at least his policies are creating optimism for working/manufacturing/small businesses. This is what drives an economy and leads to better infrastructure, schools, etc. People seem to think high taxes does this (those that place too much trust in politicians who give a good speech), but look outside the bubble--we have really been crumbling in terms of infrastructure in so many places.

And a few quick pre-responses because I know they're coming:

1.) For those who say we are already in a socialism system----we are far from a socialist state. Look at other parts of the world for true socialism.

2.) The government doesn't create jobs. They are responsible for maintaining a culture of opportunity so that others will invest and create jobs. (Whether it be fair trade deals, lower taxes, devotion to education--trade skills, engineering, business management, whatever). Gov't also shouldn't be an obstacle to any industry, but rather a helping hand. Don't get me wrong, regulations and EPA are necessary--but not to the point to where it's a disadvantage/financially foolish to invest and run a business.

3.) For those who say this is Obama's economy: that's ridiculous. Though, I give him credit. He inherited an absolute disaster. He did improve the economy, and some companies/industries prospered. However, his downfall was that he turned a blind eye to manufacturing, which if ignored for much longer would have been disastrous. The USA is useless on the global stage without manufacturing--this is the biggest revenue generator for a great nation. It employs large amounts of citizens and opens opportunities for all fields (And they're all vital if you're going to be a prosperous country or the "land of opportunity." Whether it's in the business department, machining/welding, engineering, logistics--you name it.)

4.) Again, I like many Democrats and many Republicans. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't like to be one-minded, and desire to see all perspectives. But it does seem like something strange within the Democratic party has been going on (Especially with liberal Hollywood.) I don't accuse all Democrats of being associated with it, but feel they should be aware it's turning the party far from that of JFK) and is a large reason why Trump is the President. Perhaps, it's simply the establishment (made up of Dems and Reps in costumes).

5.) On a final note, I really wish Trump wouldn't have stole Nikki Haley from us.

Well I want to focus on policy rather than names/party association. Instead of calling Trump an orange ####### or liberals "snowflakes," why can't we focus on the actual issue at hand. What would be a better policy to significantly restore manufacturing/small business growth/economic growth/domestic energy production? Doesn't necessarily have to be about Trump, but rather any ideas out there that would make for better policy?

I would say that your comments and question are very well founded. I don't think I have an answer to all of them but I do know that if enough members of Congress could approach our problems with the same humility and honesty that you have, then I'm sure we could come up with answers that would better our country.

On the other hand, you get an F- in political hackism. You aren't crazy and paranoid enough for this board. :)

That is incorrect, it was Political Hackonomics 235.

Thank you. I enjoy talking politics with anyone that has actual vision and thinks on both sides of the spectrum. One way of thinking doesn't allow for thinking outside the box and innovating. It's just not what has advanced our country so far with so much diversity.

Some have little faith in the future generations, but everyday I'm reminded that if you take a break from the news, negativity, and D.C., there are so many hard workers, positive leaders, and educated young people on the come-up. Obviously I made my post out to be a lot on manufacturing, but that's not the only sector we need thriving. They all matter, and we need to keep them all up to ensure the USA is the land of opportunity for the present and the future.

GET OUT OF OPEC. WE DONT NEED THEM, THEY NEED US.
GET BACK ON THE GOLD STANDARD.
REVOKE THE FEDS LICENSE,THEY ARE A PRIVATE BANK THATS BEEN FLEECING THIS COUNTRY FOR 133YEARS.

US CITIES ARE BECOMING SANCTUARIES FOR THE IMPOVERSHED AND ILLEGALS. PEOPLE ARE MOVING AWAY AND MAKING IT EVEN WORSE. BUILD THE WALL THEN END THAT PRACTICE. THE DEMICRATS PLAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN TO CREATE SOCIETAL VICTIMS THAT HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DEPEND ON THE GOVT.
TRUMP IS A TROLL. HE IS THERE TO SHAKE UP AND END THE STRANGLEHOLD THAT POLITICIANS HAVE OVER THE PEOPLE.
HE WAS CHOSEN BEFORE HE RAN. HE WILL DESTROY THEM AND INSERT A WARM AND FUZZY REPLACEMENT TO MAKE EVERYONE FEEL GOOD, BUT RIGHT NOW ITS WAR.

I do not have much knowledge into OPEC. I'd have to read up about them as well as who controls them. I have heard it was corrupt and doesn't give USA energy independence. We may not need them, but how exactly do they need us?

I do think the Fed is corrupt, and is another reason for 08 recession, and other economic crisis. I wonder what the thought process and agenda is for those that pull the strings behind the Fed. Wasn't it Andrew Jackson who tried to fight against the private bank? I'm not entirely sure about the Gold Standard, maybe it would be something to look into? But with the population and debt so outrageous right now, I'm curious as to what effect it would have. Could possibly lead to economic prosperity, but also as the Great Depression taught, it could have negative effects.

I agree Trump was probably chosen beforehand. I like that he is killing the political correctness that has been making some citizens see themselves as victims, and blinding them of the opportunity that is out there. I only worry that he tries too hard sometimes and make comments that although aren't intended to be divisive, are perceived to be divisive. I do not know everything that is going on behind the scenes though. I think he has done some really really good things, but at the same time, sometimes it'd be better not to talk and just let his administration work, and let the numbers prove they are doing what they promised.

How do you feel about the war overseas, Syria, China, etc.?

Keep in mind this doesn't get much news since 90+ % of media coverage is negative Trump. That goes for morning and late night talk shows too. Imagine what we could get done with majorities of real people in congress.

Oh, he'll have a long lasting legacy all right.

You'll have to go to a museum to see what Republican's used to look like. :)
