“Thinning Of The Herd” For Undefeated Next Week

Next week will be a monumental shift in the College Football Playoff landscape, regardless of any specific game..
Below are the undefeated teams in Top 25 (or closely outside) that would legitimately have a chance to make the playoffs if they went undefeated. As you can see, there will be casualties simply by head to head….but you also never know who stumbles when they should not...
Guaranteed Thinning Will Take Place: Syracuse (4-0) @ #4 (4-0) Clemson. #4 Ohio State (4-0) @ #10 Penn State (4-0). #7 Stanford (4-0) @ #8 Notre Dame (4-0).
"Upset Alert"?? #12 West Virginia (4-0) @ Texas Tech. Baylor @ #5 (4-0) Oklahoma. If Army can almost knock of the Sooners….well... Virginia Tech at Duke (3-0). Hokies will rebound...not sure this is even an upset. Ole Miss @ #6 LSU (4-0). I’m still not buying LSU or Ed. O.
Will Keep Winning....For Now Louisiana (no not LSU) at #1 (4-0) Bama. Tide will be 5-0 Tennessee @ #3 (4-0) UGA. Even a choke by UGA will not result in a loss. Pitt @ #13 UCF (3-0). Pitt is terrible.
So, a minimum 3 teams will leave the unbeaten club…would not be surprised if 1 or 2 more slip up. Could be anywhere from 3-5 LESS undefeated teams 7 days from now.
The college football season has a way of “thinning the herd”

No question about it. Happens every year. Usually more that once

what happens if we have 5 undefeated teams from Power 5.
Then October comes and that quickly ends speculation.
Then November comes and we are comparing resumes to 1 loss teams vs. 2 loss teams.
I have seen this dance before.

I think Pitt could knock off UCF. I wouldn’t want to wager on it, though.
Oh, and BTW.... nothing in your write up rhymed.

With the redshirt rule.
We just finished week 4, for most teams anyway, so you'll see less players anyway. Clemson included. Be interesting to see how many true freshman stick around on the depth chart this week.

I find it interesting that people keep excluding Kentucky. They play USUC at home next and will probably give USUC the THUMB. They just curb-stomped (previously considered a powerhouse) Miss St. It wasn't even close. They also beat a pretty good Florida team for the first time in 32 years in week 2 at The Swamp.
I expect UK to possibly upset UGA when UGA play them at UK. You heard it here first.

It's certainly possible but let's not get carried away. Kentucky is a decent team but UGA is 3 tds better on most days.

UGA isn't 3 TDs better than Missouri.

And Kentucky certainly appears to be better than Missouri this year.
I don't think UK will beat UGA, but it will be a lot closer than some people are predicting.
