Not buying UGA

Oct 8, 2017, 9:59 AM

They play only two teams in the regular season that will finish in the top 25. A 1pt. win at Notre Dame and a future date with Auburn from the West. The SEC is playing the most pathetic football I've ever seen and yes this includes the ACC during the Bowden era.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Re: Not buying UGA

They look good to me. I think they will give Bama a game for sure.

I believe UGA is better than A&M. They run better and throw better. They have a much better D.

Yeah I’m not sold on several top ten teams. Really untested weak schedules. First time they play real teams they lose.

Re: Not buying UGA

Oct 8, 2017, 10:25 AM

Not even Clemson is perfect right now. Weak kicking game (again) and need to work on passing deep.

Luckily Bama and UGA lean heavily on the run game and run defense is a strength for all of AU, Bama, and UGA. IMO UGA has no shot at beating Bama or Auburn.
AU on the other hand has a lot of balance which makes them more adaptable in these big games.

9 out of the last 11 says we have a shot versus Au so not sure if your serious or ignorant. I guess ole Kirby can coach after all....where's the naysayers claiming CKS was a bad hire? lol! Kirby's got his team in the Top 5 with one and a half recruiting classes....yikes!!!

Re: Not buying UGA

the problem was never recruits. It was always coaching. UGA has had the recruits to win it all on several occasions.

Nobody gives a }%%* what you or your butt-sniffing buddies think. Make it to the CFP and then bark from the porch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They have a good run game and a fast defense. That will

Oct 8, 2017, 10:25 AM

beat most teams if you take care of the ball. Maybe not BAMA, but most teams.

Re: They have a good run game and a fast defense. That will

Oct 8, 2017, 10:30 AM

UGa vs Auburn should be interesting.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have to disagree

Oct 8, 2017, 10:29 AM

UGA is the 3rd best team in the country. They have a true freshman QB, have a stable of backs that are outstanding, a road grading Oline that can run block, a couple of receivers that can actually cat h the ball and a defense that is physical and talented. Granted a lot of the SEC sux right now but they've blown out just about everyone they e played.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Penn State is better than Uggs

Oct 8, 2017, 11:15 AM

but they have a much tougher schedule

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No they aren't. Their lines are weak and it showed...

Oct 8, 2017, 12:56 PM

... against Iowa especially, which they almost lost. Iowa is not good btw. PSU hasn't played a ranked team and won't until OSU - and they will lose even though OSU isn't all that.

Barkley is the only thing keeping them afloat. Guy's a beast. One injury to them will be the equivalent of an iceberg to the Titanic.

Never mind the facts but the SEC is 4-1 versus the ACC this season.

http://www.fbschedules.com/2017/08/2017-college-football-strength-of-schedule-rankings-espn-fpi/

According to the preseason ESPN FPI, the California Golden Bears have the toughest schedule for the 2017 season. Georgia is second, followed by LSU, Florida, and South Carolina.

The SEC leads the ESPN FPI strength of schedule rankings with nine teams in the Top 25. The SEC is followed by the Pac-12 (7), ACC (6), Big 12 (1), Big Ten (1) and Notre Dame.

Below are the top 25 toughest 2017 college football schedules as ranked by the ESPN FPI, followed by 26 through 130.

1. California
2. Georgia
3. LSU
4. Florida
5. South Carolina
6. USC
7. Stanford
8. UCLA
9. Arizona State
10. Georgia Tech
11. Alabama
12. Utah
13. Florida State
14. Mississippi State
15. Vanderbilt
16. Texas A&M
17. NC State
18. Oregon State
19. Auburn
20. Clemson
21. Wake Forest
22. Notre Dame
23. Duke
24. Texas Tech
25. Maryland

Re: I have to disagree

Oct 8, 2017, 1:22 PM [ in reply to Re: I have to disagree ]

Fact - This Clemson fan doesn't give 2 sheets about the ACC.
Fact - Despite that - reigning national champs = Clemson = ACC team

Having a tough schedule doesn't necessarily make you better. It does, however, make you more likely to lose. Schedule toughness lately has been heavily SEC biased, in my opinion, because of ESPN's affiliation with the SEC. Less biased outlets' schedule toughness look quite a bit different.

Fact is that the south is where championships are won. The last few years tell us that Clemson, Alabama, FSU, and Ohio state are the best teams. The ACC has been present the most and have beaten the SEC the most at the highest level (FSU>Auburn, Clem>Bama).

I think it's great that Georgia is playing better. They are my second favorite team to watch. Here's hoping UGA makes it to the SECCG and gets by Bama.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FPI LOL

Oct 8, 2017, 1:40 PM [ in reply to Re: I have to disagree ]

The fact you had to use a metric that has had Ohio State #1 all season is laughable. That list is a joke. The fact it has SC and LSU as top 5....lawd. Georgia is good, but haven't truly played a very good team yet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have to disagree

I'm buying UGA based on available info

Oct 8, 2017, 10:30 AM

Theyve been pretty dominant and I'm a believer that at the end if the year that ND win will be more impressive.

As far as who is left standing after Auburn, UGA, and Alabama have their way with each other - who knows?

I do buy them as a potential top 25 team right now, but that's it. A top 10 team? NO WAY.

So far they've played one decent top 25 type team in ND. To date, UGA's schedule is so weak due to the SEC East it's impossible to tell if they're legit.

I expect we won't know until they play a real team like Auburn.

Re: Not buying UGA

Georgia is definitely the best team in the east, and may be the best team in the SEC. That championship game is going to be great to watch. Bama will have to play a near mistake/turnover free game to win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Georgia is pretty good...

Oct 8, 2017, 11:37 AM

I'm not sure if they are a legitimate top five team, based largely on the other teams they've faced, but I do think they are pretty solid.

Our series history.....as in "recent" says otherwise. To think any ranked team has no chance to beat another is quite narrow-minded. Georgia's defense will give them a chance in every contest.....just like Bama's and Clemson's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not buying UGA

Oct 8, 2017, 11:46 AM

Maybe not, but even barring a loss to Auburn, who in the East is going to beat them?
I say they win the East, and play Bama.If they win the Sec Championship, even with a loss
to Auburn, I don't know you keep them out of the 4 team playoff.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The $-EZ is NOT going to get two teams in the CFP...

Oct 8, 2017, 11:54 AM

and certainly not a Georgia team with a regular season loss to Auburn (possibly the only opponent they'll face who ends-up being ranked) and a loss to Bama in the $-EZ Championship game.

A one loss Oklahoma or Penn State would get in ahead of a two-loss Georgia.

UGA is a top 10 team for sure. Their D is really good and Fromm is making plays when it counts. He is freshman and getting better. Do not let our hatred for them cloud your judgement. Their schedule sets up nicely.

Beating a 5 - 1 Notre Dame team in South Bend ...

Oct 8, 2017, 12:28 PM

is not eye-popping at this point but it is a good win.

We'll find out a little more about Notre Dame in the coming weeks when they face Southern Cal, NC State and Miami

They also have what I consider to be a solid win against Michigan State.
