Im starting to change my opinion on the "Pass Out" Rule
Oct 6, 2014, 9:55 AM

it seems that ever since the NCAA cut down on Halftime duration, no one can make it back into the game on time. Every week, there are a considerable # of empty seats before the 2nd half kickoff. It does not give the team a very good "home feeling" during that time span.
Thoughts?

Run to the car for food/drink rather than wait in line for 15 minutes & pay too much?
When my kids were younger it was gold being able to come and go.
I usually don't leave since we park too far away but its nice to be able to leave and come back if needed.

a simple bottle of water, $4.
Or a fountain drink, which literally costs cents, to cost $4 for a tiny cup, $6 for a reasonable sized cup, and $8 for an extra large sized cup.
They need to slash concession costs drastically.

could sell more and still make money on reduced costs to the consumer. That is something the Clemson admin could do today to be fan friendly.

Very true. If you or I were to show up with a truck of water and ice after a hurricane and charge these prices, they would arrest us for doing it. I understand the need for a profit, but 200-300% is ludicrous.

Revenue, Athletic programs.........

You will continue to see prices rise as athletic programs budgets go up. How many new positions has Clemson athletic program created in the last 5 years? We now have assistants to the assistant (insert what ever title) What use to be the job of 1 person, now takes 6-8 people to do.
Clemson along with other schools will start selling alcohol at games next year in an effort to increase revenues. Within the next 10 years, that $6.00 slice of pizza will cost $10.00 and that $4.00 water will be $6.00.
I'm still pissed at paying $4.00 for a cup of Hot chocolate at the GT game last year. I received a cup with a spoon and a scoop of cocoa and was told the hot water was to the right....... go make it myself. The worst part was they had a tip jar, you mean I should tip you to take my $4.00 and tell me to make it myself?

so they don't even have qualified labor running it...Half filled nachos or fries for $5 and they have to enter $4 and $5 on an iPhone to to make change when I hand them a 10...You still get fleeced if you go to a pro game, but at lesst they have semi-competent crackheads at the register, not some mindless #### doing it for the "life experience"

It's absolutely ridiculous that people can't make it back in time. I have never had any trouble at all. Of course, I'm not going back out to my car for an alcohol fix either

And most would rather pound and extra beer or 2 instead of making it back on time.

UNC game, I took my kids to the bathroom and got them a drink and I missed the first 3 minutes of the half.
NC State game, I took my kids to the portajohn in lot six and slipped in a coke for them and I was back 2 minutes before kickoff.
Seriously, why can't they have a bunch of drinks already made right before half? You know that folks are going to come and get them. Speed it up.

I is good for people with kids that are younger. I can take my one year old back to the tailgate and then make it back by the start of the half. I dont think that the reason that people were not back in their seat prior to the start of the second half last week was the result of the pass out policy. It was because of the score, which brings up a different story. Why do people pay for a whole game and not stay to watch it? Even if it is a blow out the players are still playing and you get to see people like D-Rod play.

leave and come back. My son likes the entrance and cheering for the tigers but like most boys his age he gets tired of it about half time so we usually take him back to the tailgate where he is free to play. I think the real problem (and I am guilty of this at times) is that tailgating and satellite TV have made it fun to watch the Tigers and all the other good games while enjoying food and drink that you purchased at a fraction of the cost. When you think about it, the tailgate/parking spot is what we pay the most money for. I could probably buy tickets without IPTAY membership and have as good or better seats than I do now but I enjoy tailgating and giving to Clemson so I continue to do so. I would never leave a game that was close but it is difficult to sit in the stadium in a blowout when there are many other good games on and my son is trying to nose dive from the upper deck!
