is that there was a time when you heard plenty of Clemson fans say "as long as we beat Carolina I don't care if we win any other games."

What a sad goal looking back on it. Just shows how far we've come.

What a joke it is to compare our program's success to just beating their loser of a program.

considered our rivalry game to be the season's end all.

That's because both were somewhat mediocre with no bowl games in sight. Hence, Clemson-Carolina was the biggest game of the year.

Even after the disastrous 1975 season, Red Parker probably would not have been fired if he had not lost to SC 56-20. He had to go after losing that bad. I grew up here and heard it every year - "no matter how many we win or lose, we have to beat U5C"

I think your old senile brain is right and Red Parker was fired after beating Scar 28-9 in 1976. Then Pell took over in 1977.... But maybe my old senile brain is wrong... Lol
