Caribbean Resort suggestions.......

Apr 20, 2014, 8:35 PM

Planning my 25th anniversary.

We've been to Sandals Royal Caribbean Jamaica (honeymoon) and Beaches Negril (family trip). Looking for an all-inclusive trip to another island.

Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

Iberostar Tucan In Playa del Carmen,Mexico. Jungle atmosphere. Great service. Plus side excursions to fantastic places. Safety no issue. They were spider monkeys and iguanas running freely in the resort. Been twice.

The place is a giant tourist trap. Just watch Cool Runnings while listening to Bob Marley and you've seen all there is to see.

Go to the Dominican Republic -- it's much nicer.

I got married in St Lucia(Sandals) and it is a blast and we have been back several times. The one thing that kills me is the flight. You are in airports and airplanes for 12 hrs that is the only drawback. We have gone to Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau it was an 1:45 flight from Charlotte direct, We were on the beach by lunch can't beat that. Also Paradise Island (Atlantis)is a short bus ride and you can go off property without worrying about your safety. We really liked it also, a lot to do.

Re: Caribbean Resort suggestions.......

We've been to several Sandals resorts, but the only thing I don't like is they are all the same just in different impoverished places where you had no business being outside the resort. Or if you did, you were bombarded with panhandlers. So we chose to stay on the resort property, which could have been anywhere.

Our last all inclusive trip was to the Royal Playa Del Carmen. Absolutely loved it and will definitely go back. The resort was beautiful, way more so than any other resort I've been to. It was in the heart of Playa del Carmen. We could wonder freely into the city and never feared for our safety, even at night. I went running every morning throughout the city. We could shop, dine or go out for drinks with no problem. Of course it was all inclusive, so we did all our dining and drinking within the resort, but it did include several nearby restaurants which are also open to the public. The inclusive also included top shelf liquor and large selection of bottled beer as opposed to draft and house liquors in Jamaica.

http://www.realresorts.com/The-Royal-Playa-Carmen/

HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!!!
