36,000 people died in vehicle crashes in 2018...

Mar 16, 2020, 5:01 PM

...why didn't we shut everything down since it is so dangerous to drive anywhere?

There is also the property damage, hospital bills, pain and suffering, loss of quality of life, etc.

I know it doesn't really compare to a deadly virus, but the difference is a risk we understand and have learned to accept.

These kinds of idiotic comments aren't helping anything.

Mar 16, 2020, 5:03 PM

Look around you. This is serious. We have an opportunity to slow this thing down. Act like a ######### adult and do your part.

Bingo. This virus has the potential to kill more Americans and kill them faster than the Vietnam war. It's crashed the stock market and is strangling trade. It's not a joke.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thanks, we elders are in most danger...

Mar 16, 2020, 6:00 PM

lot to be concerned with...We are at most risk, and have learned that we are not immortal!

Well .... the stock market is crashing because we are all chicken littles .... you know ... the sky is falling ...: the sky is .... falling !! Must sell ... must sell ... even though I have already lost 50% ... I don’t care ... must sell ... must sell !!!!! -<img border=">

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

The virus did not crash the stock market or strangle trade

Mar 17, 2020, 10:08 PM [ in reply to Re: These kinds of idiotic comments aren't helping anything. ]

as you put it. People overreacting caused those things.

Where do you get that more Americans would die than in Vietnam? Where did Ernie Sanders get more than WWII? China completely botched this thing and it wasn’t nearly that deadly there, so how would it be any worse here?

I’m not saying we shouldn’t take precautions, but for this particular virus, the response and fear that has ensued is overboard.

I’m also not saying that there will never be a pandemic that should require martial law, but this one is not it.

@TigersTeeth

Do you still feel like people are over reacting? Now even the president thinks 100k US deaths would be a win.

55000 died in vietnam. our best case scenario at the moment is 200k. and that's just the first wave.

Fauci has repeatedly said 100,000-240,000 is worst case at this point due to the mitigation we have done.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

China is almost certainly lying about their numbers

But they also did communist things like military enforced lockdowns and literally welding some apartment building doors shut in Wuhan.

No, the media induced mass panic crashed the stock market.

Re: These kinds of idiotic comments aren't helping anything.

Mar 31, 2020, 8:04 PM

Just please shut up. I was there the Monday morning they crashed for the first time. Down 1500 bucks before the first trade ran on the NYSE. The markets crashed in Asia while the media was still in bed Sunday night. It just followed to Wall Street because there's an enormous amount of foreign money in U.S. markets and China had determined it was shutting the entire country down.

Re: 36,000 people died in vehicle crashes in 2018...

Mar 16, 2020, 6:32 PM

There are 16 deaths per 100,000 licensed drivers that is 0.016% compared to approx. 3% for this virus with would be 3000 deaths per 100,000.
THAT'S IT! I'm only talking about Clemson sports on here from now on. SO time to watch the Alabama Clemson Natty for the 12th time, I'll let you know who won.

You couldn’t be more wrong. The two aren’t comparable.

This might be a worse comparison than the Brownell and Bowden crap.

This virus is really, really serious. Don’t mess around.

Need to add..

Mar 17, 2020, 6:14 PM

Probably a huge percentage of those deaths could have been avoided if people had followed the advise to not drink and drive, not text or talk on phone while driving, wear seatbelts and things such as those

Same goes for this virus...do things that can prevent the spread

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Need to add..

I appreciate your intelligent, non insulting response. Several could learn from you. Much better received than “MORON, blah blah blah”. I stop reading after people resort to foul language (didn’t happen here) or personal attacks. Which I’m guessing will now be coming my way.

I mean it's pretty much getting to the point to where some of the fear Monger's on t.v. are already having to walk back their "according to medical professionals" predictions. The deaths just aren't there, fact. I agree with the sensible folks that believe that the virus has been here awhile and no one even realized it. And now we're being told to panic 2 months later. We're fighting the hysteria, not the disease folks.

Mar 31, 2020, 2:20 PM [ in reply to Re: 36,000 people died in vehicle crashes in 2018... ]

to are coming from every single reporter/anchor on every single station on tv right?

You people trip me out. Your stupid head is buried so deep into your political beliefs that, in spite of LITERALLY EVERY NEWS CHANNEL, SCIENTIST, AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL ON EARTH, you still choose to believe it's all hype.

Like, how do you even get to that point?

BTW, already more deaths and Illness than as a result of 9/11. We battle the hysteria and not the enemy there too dumb dumb?

The galling thing about guys like that is that if the actions taken to thwart this virus are effective and fewer deaths occur than projected, he'll say he was right all along.
