Clowney. I find it funny

That he is now asking Atlanta to trade up from 6 so they can draft him. Especially after it's becoming ever more clear he's not a top 5 pick. He seems to be the only one not realizing reality. He's a physical talent yes. But I've seen many with god given abilities waste it and not achieve their potential while others outperform theirs through will and determination. "A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits"... I've seen Clowney quit quite a bit during recent years. He doesn't have the will to achieve greatness.

DE's are a dime a dozen. I hate to call drafting him a waste because he will be productive (IF he works), but there is more value in some of these other players/positions.

but we turn out NFL DE like an assembly line up here.
Andre Branch was our lowest rated recruit (by stars) in his class, yet the highest drafted player in that class.
DE is not a tough position. Jumbo athlete plus coaching = stud.

Clowney could be standing on the sidelines smokin' a dube, popping HGH, and charging little Jockstraps $15.00 each for his sugnature on some piece of Capon apparel from Wal-Mart and you would try to rationalize or justify it.

The coots don't have any sports facilities close to their campus, and they don't have a sports board for their fans. Now that they are all over our sports board, they will want to use our indoor practice facility before you know it.

Mayock has him about 5th now. What the clown does or doesn't do on the field in Monday's combine will pretty much settle things.

Do you really think so? I don't.
Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped a little bit, but he's still #1 on the CBS draft rankings (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2014/all) and I'm not going to be surprised if most people still have him right near the top of their boards.
My post wasn't claiming that the perception of Clowney isn't slipping a little bit (despite his incredible talent, he's been getting far too much hype)...it was challenging the claim of the original poster who said he's "clearly not a top 5 pick", which is ridiculous in my opinion.

he THINKS he is best thing since sliced bread. He has never had to work for what he gets. In hs he pretty much practiced when he wanted to. Same thing at usuc. He came to practice when he wanted to, did not attend all the team meetings and SOS still let him play as did his hs coach.
I bet when he is drafted, he will hold out on the contract forever just for the attention. If you remember, he waited a long time before he annnounced what college he would play for. He claimed all the injuries kept him out of games. He had recieved not favorable reviews after the first game this past season. So to keep people from saying he was lazy again, he claimed injuries as an excuse. He is an attention w ####.
If he continues with this same attitude in the NFL, he will not last long and be released. Of course he could claim an injury and be sent to injured reserved. He is in for a rude awakening...but does he have the mental attitude to accept the challenge? He is going to find out real fast he is not the best player out there.

Wow, how do you know so much about the inner workings going on in Columbia. Man, we need you over there at "coot Central" to give us all that inside info you have acquired. Only thing I can figure is you must have been up Clowney's a$$ to know so much about his personal life and his dealings with the team. So my only question for you is.... how does it smell up there and can you see Clemson from there?

If by "out of my element" you mean I don't look at everything through orange colored classes like a lot of the people on this site, then yea I guess you're right.
FWIW, Clowney just ran unofficial 4.47 and 4.48 40s. Not too shabby.
