College recruiting just highlights this for us. A person's word, though ostensibly important in our society, rarely holds up to expectations.

This is another example of how social expectations will never be met because human nature can't meet them. Without intense social pressure to act a certain way, people are going to constantly let each other down. Expectations lead to judgment and disappointment. The cycle is incubated by hypocrisy.

Related subject: #### is a multi-billion dollar business because our "moral" expectations defy nature. ;)

When a man is engaged should he date other women?? A NO brainier! Look up the word Commitment!

"an agreement or pledge to do something in the future"

So much for individual character! This is what today's society has become, unfortunately!

Coming out of college, I got job offers after I had accepted an offer. I ended going to the job I had accepted, but certainly had no qualms about looking around before showing up for my first day. And I've looked around many times in the ensuing years.
