The choice of playing for a Family or a Factory

Jan 13, 2019, 2:45 PM

One of the more interesting post game commentaries came from Joel Klatt on Cowherd’s show of all places. It’s been thoroughly discussed on T-Net, but Klatt made the point that the two cultures at Bama and Clemson are dramatically different, with Clemson being a family and Alabama run like a factory to include players and coaches.

While plenty of folks have made that observation over the course of Clemson’s ascendancy, in my view the majority of sports media analysts and pundits still viewed the Alabama factory approach as superior. Yes, you could still go far via the Dabo family, all the way to a Natty, NFL career path, exposure, etc. But that couldn’t possibly be sustainable. Could it?

In addition to our resume over the last 3-seasons, this Natty has truly codified the consistency of excellence at Clemson. A new reality is now crystal clear to all young high school men with aspirations of playing at the highest level.

With a Clemson offer you CAN choose become part of a family, not only without compromise, but with promise of an opportunity to play for championships and reach your full potential in every way.

That eSECpn wuss homer McElroy said if you want to have fun, go to Clemson. But if you want to win Championships, go to an SEC school. As if it weren’t possible to have both.

That myth was shattered for everyone to see. The SEC’s top two teams Georgia and Alabama totally manhandled on the National stage by non-SEC teams that looked like they were having lots of fun doing it.

Thanks for posting. I almost forgot he said that!

McElroy wasn’t alone in that opinion though, yet today it’s a narrative that’s been disproven in undeniable fashion on college football’s biggest stage, again.

Diddo, great find. I had forgotten that. I do remember that smug face of his.. Just a total homer. Problem is these guys never eat crow, they just ignore or spin just like deez-nuts trying to clown Jeff Scott about being s finesse offense.
