The big 12 showing off how dumb they are

Dec 1, 2014, 5:53 PM

Someone please tell me how you can make these two statements in one interview.

'One True Champion' is really about everybody playing everybody," Bowlsby said. "That's the right way to do it."

"That's the prerogative of the selection committee," Bowlsby said. "It's not our prerogative for us to tell them who is our best team. They can choose from an array of teams that are available and qualified for the playoff.

So we have the best way to choose a champion but we won't.

If I am a member of the selection committee I say co-champs are not champs and jump Ohio state or any other champion within 3-5 spots over them.

No, the Big 12 is greedy. They don't want to split their chunk of TV revenues with 12 teams. So, in my opinion, if the playoff committee is looking at conference champions, they just get overlooked. It's that simple! They can't have it both ways.

In my mind, TCU and Baylor are not co-champs, since Baylor beat TCU head to head.

Sorry, but the NCAA doesn't have rules on how conferences...

operate, as far as adding enough teams to have a championship game.

I wonder how the Big 12 will ever claim a national championship if "one true [conference] champion" has to have played every single team in said conference.

Why can't you differentiate between the context of the two..

statements. One statement was about Big 12 teams all playing each other in a season, instead of being in divisions and having a championship game. Which, a lot of the time these conference championship games don't feature the two best teams in the conference facing each other. The other statement was about the playoff committee deciding between TCU and Baylor. Which the Big 12 has no control how the committee makes it's decisions. Not that hard to understand.

Because you can't say you have the best way to crown a champion and then refuse to crown a champion. The committee has said from the start conference championships mean something so you are just playing the system of you don't name one.
