The better loss argument is absurd. If you believe

Nov 16, 2016, 4:24 PM

That who someone lost to is more important than who you've beaten, then you have to argue that undefeated West Mich should be on the top 4.
This "better loss" and ignoring SOS and head to head is ignorant.

whats absurd is saying "UL's only loss was to a top 4 team!"

I agree. If Clemson and Louisville were both 9-1, Clemson lost to Pitt by 1 and LOU lost to Alabama by 1, then I could agree to having LOU ranked above Clemson. But when LOU's loss is to Clemson, that changes things. Problem is, Louisville just wants to whine. This is more of the loser mentality and giving "participation trophies."

Why would you automatically do that? Our SOS is still far better than theirs.

So again, are we rewarding what you do (win against good teams) or are we rewarding what you don't do (ie, who did you not beat)?

This argument of a better loss and ignoring who you have beaten must mean you put undefeated nonpower 5 teams in the playoff.. why no uproar from Lville for West Mich?

Clemson and Bama were both 14-1 last year. Clemson had the better loss.....? Why didn't AP poll put us #1 and split up Natty?

You beat me so I should be ahead of you.....yep makes perfect sense in unicorn world.

We should all agree to this

We can then expect to receive last year's crystal football award since our loss to #1 Bama was better than their loss to Ole Miss.

It's Louisville's own undoing

They scheduled the uber weak out of conference schedule, so there is nobody to blame but themselves. If they want to be considered with the elite programs year in and year out, then they need to have an elite out of conference schedule. Historically, they were just happy to reach a bowl game and their current schedule reflects that. Change the schedule and they might end up in the CFP (if they keep winning).
