The Coots and their ranking

[1]
Posted: Sep 4, 2018 3:16 PM

When a team on Clemson’s schedule is ranked in the top 25 it’s bc ESPN rigged it for TV ratings. When the Coots slip into the top 25 the week of the Georgia game, its bc they earned it...

I’m not sure what is stronger, the hypocrisy or the delusion...

Anytime they are ranked it raises an eyebrow . Coastal Carolina was a gigantic hurdle .

Yea and Furman was a real power house. :-/

We are coming off of a playoff berth last year.

With some key returning starters. That justifies our ranking.

Did your team make the playoffs last year?

They beat Mich

Mich is 0-17 on the road against ranked teams but it is still Michigan

What is your point with this comment? Are you suggesting Clemson doesn't deserved to be ranked?

Not at all. It was just in response to the remark about beating Coastal Carolina. We were ranked 26 which after a 9 win season and bowl win over Michigan and returning most of our starters is where I think we should be. Yes, we beat a cupcake of a team while Texas and Florida St showed that they don't belong in the rankings so we moved up 2 spots which is pretty standard this time of year.

So we deserve to be ranked after our win over Coastal just as much as you deserve to remain #2 after beating Furman. Not sure why anyone would have an issue with us being ranked #24.

They beat Citadel 56-20 last year***

It's a new season so we shall see. Not saying we are going to win but we should at least make a game of it for a change.

it was pretty clear Saturday that furman would win the sec east***

Right about where we started this year. So what's your point? Ya'll act like I'm claiming we should be in the top ten and not 24.

Clemson.

The difference between 20 and 50 is miniscule.

Yeah it’s pointless considering we will be unranked next week.

You think you will lose? Don’t you come on here all the time talking about how great Bentley and that WR corp is? You should easily score at will given the talent of Tom Brady err Jake Bentley and company? It’s not like they have 5 stars (you know actual good players) like Jake Fromm, Mercole Hardman, Swift, and for the second half Cook.

Unfortunately, Bentley and our WR corps won’t be blocking their defensive line :(

I think its more to give GA a quality win over a top 25 team (at the time) to boost their SOS during the season. Maybe they'll slip back in the top 25 again for no reason at the end of the year like they did last season too, got all hyped and fired up just for another beat down lol.

Rankings outside of the top 10 are meaningless this time of year. Rankings in November is when it really effects strength of schedule.

did i miss something, the coots are ranked?***

Considering that we were ranked #26 in the preseason poll and Texas and Fla St got waxed #24 sounds right where we should be. I don't think that we were ranked #26 because we play Georgia week 2.

I’m laughing harder at LSU almost jumping into the top 10.

Why does this matter?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I simply do not understand why the Coots' ranking is important.

They won't be in the Top 25 long.

If you are preseason 26, sure, you will get in if teams in front of you loose. And they did. But how were they preseason ranked 26? That is the question.

That’s the first sensible thing I’ve ever heard a UGA fan

What is funny, to me, is that even their hometown station is trying to hype up the ranking as the first in the Muschamp era when we all saw they were ranked #24 when we played them last year.

Not sure why you find it amusing that we are happy to finally make the rankings after the dumpster fire Spurrier left us with. You may not admit it but Muschamp has us moving in the right direction. We are 10 point underdogs this week (which sounds right to me) and it will take playing our best football and a few breaks but I do think we stand a chance.

It is what it is. I can't change the past but I like what the future is looking like. After Saturday either we are back to the unranked or we make a big jump in the rankings. Of course I'm hoping for the win but won't be totally letdown if we don't. Hopefully we will be ranked in November when we play ya'll.

Why would espn rig their ranking for TV ratings of a game on CBS?
