The 1 thing that concerns me is Huegel not kicking

Jan 7, 2017, 12:45 PM

off to the endzone. If he kicks shy of the endzone, I'll be holding my breath during every return.

Pooch kick works nicely

shorter field tho. man, a strong kicker is such a luxury - pinion was a weapon

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Pooch kick that lands at the 15 yard line and we tackle them inside the 25 is fine with me.

that would work for me if huegel can do it consistently. if he's kicking off a lot that means we're scoring.

"If" we tackle them inside the 25 ... great ...

I wish that was a sure thing.

just kick it out the end zone every time

Jan 7, 2017, 1:29 PM [ in reply to Re: The 1 thing that concerns me is Huegel not kicking ]

The rush of a good return is not worth potentially putting them back only 5-10 yards more than the 25

Do you think he's not trying to?

Yes I held my breath every kick off during the Fiesta Bowl. How do we not have someone who can kick it out of the endzone every single time!?

I don't know...I guess if we have failed at anything, its not being able to find an elite kicker. It is definitely a position of great need. I know the pooch kick can be effective, but Alabama will adjust to that if we are fortunate enough to be kicking off often. In my opinion, there's no excuse for not being able to find a kicker that can kick it through the end zone EVERY TIME.

He can kick it out of the endzone. We kick it short on purpose because dabo thinks we can tackle them inside the 25

I'm really ok with it if not more than on 12 of his 15 KOs in this particular game.

I've said it before and I will say it again....

Jan 7, 2017, 2:42 PM

if I live to be 100, I will never understand why we can't seem to find a kicker who can boot the ball out of the back of the end zone on EVERY kickoff.

Seems like every team we face has one so they're obviously out there.

Re: I've said it before and I will say it again....

At one time we didn't want the kicker kicking it through the endzone, but a high teaser kick to the goal line for a stop, but you don't always get the stop. It think coach Scott was at sc when they did the kickoff lateral pass for either a Td or a very long return against Clemson.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

40.22% of his kicks are touchbacks.

Jan 7, 2017, 3:53 PM

The majority are inside the 5. Opponents are only averaging 19 yards a return. Kick off coverage is not an issue?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: 40.22% of his kicks are touchbacks.

Jan 7, 2017, 4:27 PM

If that is the case, why risk a big return for less than 5 yards pe r play
