If you hit him, it's roughing.
The call was correct, but the guy rushing the kicker had to be out of his mind. Talk about going brain-dead!

It really isn't...the problem is a player made a bad decision and laid out for a FG that had almost no chance of going in. It was a horrible, horrible decision and the right call was made.

Here is the rules, he was finished kicking with both feet on the ground. And it was a severe hit at all, based on this you tell me what it should have been called!!! Duke was robbed!
Item 1: Roughing the kicker. It is a foul for roughing the kicker if a defensive player:
(a) contacts the plant leg of the kicker while his kicking leg is still in the air; or
(b) slides into or contacts the kicker when both of the kicker's feet are on the ground. It is not a foul if the contact is not severe, or if the kicker returns both feet to the ground prior to the contact and falls over a defender who is on the ground.
Note: When in doubt, it is a foul for roughing the kicker.
Item 2: Running into the Kicker. It is a foul for running into the kicker if a defensive player:
(a) contacts the kicking foot of the kicker, even if the kicker is airborne when the contact occurs; or
(b) slides under the kicker, preventing him from returning both feet to the ground.

maybe you should look at this:

then talk about how legit it was.
The kicker had fully carried out his kicking motion. The defender did not intentionally strike him, nor did he strike his plant lag or kicking leg while in kicking motion. There are two very different ways to call this play, and the call they chose was incorrect.
If you disagree with that... well. have another.
