Texas A&M

Dec 12, 2012, 7:48 PM

I just checked out their commitment list and they have 34 commits for this recruiting cycle. Gotta love that SEC style of recruiting and cutting players! If Saaban does it then it's gotta be ok.

seems like every year you hear the SEC is "cracking down"

Never understood the problem really... They either have a lot of kids graduating or leaving for NFL and few may transfer happens every year they still have to be within the 85 limit so its not like they get more players than everyone else.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought there was also...............

a 25 per year scollie limit. How do they get around that?

My understanding is the 85 is NCAA rule but the 25 is a

league rule and the SEC doesn't abide by it, or now does depending on who you listen to. But when you see 35 its hard to imagine they have 10 non-quals or grays in that number.........well maybe it isn't this is the SEC.

No, the issue is these SEC teams bring in so many and do

it by trimming the fat on the existing roster to fall within the 85. Its a shady practice.

The SEC essentially has "cuts".

Its pretty simple. They have 34 commits. 9 are mid term enrollees who will count against last years class. 1 guy is confirmed to be going JUCO and one other is on the fence. That leaves 24 commits for this year. There's no SEC magic or skirting, and if Dabo could actually hold onto commits we might actually have the same situation here.

9 signing back to a class of 20 = 29 ... try again.***

They had 4 mid term enrollees last year. 20-4=16+9=25. Also, when you have attrition, a player who passes away due to an auto accident and players leaving early for the draft, you can sign up to 9 that count towards your previous class as long as you don't go over your 85 limit.

Also, they had one player last year never make it in which opened up another spot.
