Liberty had applied for Conference membership with one of the lower tier conferences (Sun Belt? Conf USA?) in order to facilitate their move to FBS.
They were not approved, so they had a bunch of schedule holes to fill with very little time.

Turns out they were able to make the leap without having to buy into a conference.

They plan on staying independent for awhile, but their schedule will get a lot harder with more preplanning. For 2018 they just wanted to meet NCAA criteria, since they got no conference help. (Liberty felt that Coastal Carolina hampered their bid instead of helping. Apparently CCU does not want to renew their FCS rivalry with Liberty at the FBS level.)

Army is also independent and frequently assists 'emerging' teams (Liberty is also on their 2018 schedule.)

No excuse for FL, but i refuse to be their apologist.

Assuming you mean 2 non-conference FCS teams.

If you are referring to Liberty, they make the jump to FBS this year (like Ga Sou, App St and Coastal before them). They and Army are both independent; i.e., no conference affiliation.

Their other 10 games are vs FBS foes (though they had to schedule NMSt twice).

But you are probably just being sarcastic about FL. If so, i laugh at your joke but have to disagree with you; their 2018 SEC schedule has got to be tougher than last year's.

Does anybody know when FL's 2018 non-con schedule was set up? Just wondering if Muschamp had a hand in it
