Tax cut...there have been several comments last few weeks

May 8, 2019, 7:50 AM

So last nite I checked our reporting 2018 vs 2017 to see if we paid less...

Results: our total taxes paid on percentage basis dropped 1.8 points.
Thanks, DJT!

Florida has no state employment tax, I pretty much paid nothing this year and was pretty shocked when I saw my federal rate. .

When he took over the economy, our lives, our livlihood,

May 8, 2019, 8:15 AM

our diets, our jobs, and our prosperity. I mean there are only so many years, decades, and generations who can withstand the ######## that the President and government is the only reason for your prosperity or failure in life before people believe that.

I swear I will vote for the most socialist, communist, left wing, environmentalist nutjob there is, or ANY politician who puts the ball back in our court like Reagan did. Remind people that they WHOLLY FUND the government, and they control their lives and prosperity far more than government.

I mean think about the metrics. DONALD freaking Trump is our President. We should be embroiled in WW3 by now, the economy should have collapsed, people should be dumpster diving, and America should be dead as a nation. The importance and impact of politicians is WAY overstated in media coverage, etc. They are not the reason for our success or our failures. Never have been. Their whole impact and power lies in the $4 trillion they spend each year, and even then THAT money is money they take form people, working, in the private sector capitalist economy.

And this is why politicians LOVE debt spending. It's the only way they have a net PLUS impact on the economy. And all that's fine until someone has to pay the bill. But overall, at the end of the day, if someone isn't earning it, the government doesn't have it to spend.

Been going on for a while.

Yes, you're right, he can't do it by EO, but the POTUS is the one who has to sign the bill.

May 8, 2019, 8:29 AM

they passed the tax cut IN SPITE of President Trump's best efforts (likely not intentional) to sink the dang thing.

Recall the particulars of the tax law. I don’t recall him being an obstacle but certainly wasn’t following it in great detail.

Actually, Trump ran on cutting taxes.

As odd as it is for a candidate to fulfill a promise, Trump did and the public voted enough pubs in office to support his tax cut promise. If there's someone who deserves credit for tax cuts it the people who voted for Trump.

May 8, 2019, 1:13 PM

And if you recall, he didn't get the full plan he wanted. If you want to thank someone, thank Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan. I don't know why so many Trumpies don't get this.

My percentage rate dropped 4%. Made more, paid less taxes. Qualified Business Income Deduction is most of that difference.

Take it easy, dems.

May 8, 2019, 11:09 AM

We know you think taxes are good. To roll back the taxcuts vote for Harris or Biden. Both are running on higher taxes across the board.

The last candidate to make raising taxes part of his political platform was ole Walt Mondale back in 1984. He only lost 49 states. Do you see a problem, I don't.

Don't need to vote for anyone to roll them back, they are set to expire on individuals already.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It just seems most of y'all don't get how tax cuts happen.

Don't spend all that 1.8% in one Dollar General.***

May 8, 2019, 1:43 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You don't think a 1.8 point cut is very measurable?....

May 8, 2019, 1:54 PM

for someone with a previous effective tax rate of 13%, that a 14% reduction in taxes paid.

If your taxable income is $50k, 1.8 points equates to an additional $900/year take home.

You do get that, right?
