Rest easy Dr Smith. Another Tiger in a long list that made the world a better place. Sacrificed his time for the betterment of his fellow man!!!!

Prayers extended to the family.

I worked with him for a few years and talked a lot of Tiger football with him. A super guy.

Got to interview Randy in 1965 and it was a pleasure & honor.. and enjoyed seeing what he was up to occasionally, even recently when he was honored at Clemson.

Thx Randy & R.I.P. great Clemson Man.

I got to meet Dr Smith about a dozen years ago. At the time i had an idea he was special, but i had no idea how special.

The attorney whose office was next door to mine here in Augusta occasionally needed me to come over and witness document signings.
One of those signatories wore a Clemson ring and was very engaging. The attorney was proud to introduce us and got us talking about Clemson football . I couldn't believe the man in front of me played Center. He was a very genial man. Sometimes i was annoyed to break up my workday to serve as an unpaid witness for the attorney, but that visit with Randy made up for all the others.

A few years later i heard Dr Smith interviewed during the football broadcast and recognized the story of the man I had met. Truly a great man.
I got the impression he was just as real, just as unassuming in real life as he was that day i met him, and that day he was on the radio.
