Good grief - enough w/ the melodramatic uniform tweets. We *ALWAYS* know what's being worn. Dabo has taken the suspense and surprise out of it with his "championship pants" formula.

I don't remember so much arguing before Dabo made a big deal about it. IF the team was losing focus, then make it a non-issue for a few months and get back on track, fine. But this is a coach who (a) is pretty good at getting a team to focus generally, but apparently can't overcome the overwhelming existential angst of uniform suspense; and (b) a coach who doesn't think slides, putt-putt courses, nap rooms, hockey tables, video game systems, barber shops etc are distractions, but uniform spontaneity IS!!!
I remember the days when no one knew until game day and it put a charge into the crowd. There was something organic and spirited about that. Now, we could be playing an 0-9 Duke team in Wallace Wade Outdoor Grandstands, and, as long as a division "championship" was on the line - voila - it would be orange pants. We could be playing a winless SC team, and it would be orange pants. BUT, if we're playing a top five non-conference game during the regular season, or even a highly ranked ACC team but it's too early to clinch, then NOOOOOO - it's not CHAMPIONSHIP game!!!
Heck, we could be playing the New England Freaking Patriots in Death Valley at night, with Danny Ford, and the ghosts of Jess Neely, Frank Howard, and John Heisman in attendance, on the anniversary of the foundation of Clemson University, and there'd be no orange pants. Makes no sense.

Granted, Dabo hadn’t formalized the uniform schedule at that point. However if we ever host an FCS school again on Halloween who wants to wear their all black uniforms, I could see an exception being made to wear all orange for the fun of it.
