Always saddens me when a young player is forced to hang up his cleats for health reasons, but truly agree it is best. Best wishes for the next chapter of your life!

Having to make tough decisions at a young age provides strength and courage for making even tougher decisions as you travel through life. When a door closes behind you, multiple doors open before you, offering opportunities you never imagined. Best wishes and God bless you.

He was a really good one that was just reaching his stride

Aug 23, 2018, 9:22 PM

when he got injured. I think he gave it all he had in trying to come back. I asked about him a few months ago. I'm not surprised it went this way. I hope he enjoys the rest of his college days and makes a good living as a coach in the coming years.

Re: TNET: Clemson DE college career likely over

Aug 23, 2018, 9:49 PM

I know this is hard on him, but I’m glad he’s got his Clemson family behind him all the way. This, to me, is what really separates Clemson from all the other programs. Not only are our boys elite on the field, but they are taught to be #1 off the field too. That’s what Clemson is all about and that’s what makes the Clemson family so special. #bestisthestandard
Dabo and co. have built the best program in the country for this reason.
Mr. Yeargin, thank you for all that you’ve done for this university. And always remember, a Clemson man needs no introduction.

A couple of years ago my grandson went to Dabo Swinney Youth camp and Richard was his coach. I met him as camp was adjourning and you can believe me when I say he is a fine young man. If he decides to become a coach I’m sure he will be a good one. Best of luck Richard!

Hopefully can put in same time and effort into being as talented a coach as he was a player. Best wishes towards degree and future Mr. Yeargin!

I feel for Richard Yeargin, he came in with high exspectations and had the injury problems he’s had, mean while we just continue to stack incredible athletes at defensive end! Very difficult decision to make, particularly at the threshold of what looks to be a spectacular season. I wish you the very best in life, you’ve been in an environment that breads much more than athletic success, you’ll be fine, God’s speed Richard!
