Agree, Swafford is scum, but Clemson just needs to hang tough.

If the ACC makes us play an FSU team that is going nowhere, then we should whip them bad, run up the score, play all the subs, throw the ball! Make them regret playing the game. I just don’t want anyone to get hurt senselessly. Move the game to Clemson.

I am shocked, absolutely shocked, that John Swofford, who in the 80’s, as the AD at UNC recommended additional punishment for us over what the NCAA recommended, and who as ACC commissioner, defended UNC’s no attendance classes for their student athletes, did not support Dabo’s straightforward application of approved conference Covid protocol guidelines- shocked, just shocked! (Sarc) Sorry for the run-on sentence. Dr. Henry would not like it!

When has ND been relevant enough to bully a conference unless that conference commissioner is a spineless weasel who would have gone nuts if this had happened to is precious NC Tarheels. If the ACC does make improvements in the commissioner’s office with a new commissioner coming then I think it’s time for Clemson to consider bolting themselves to a new conference or help to form a new conference. The NC schools have always bullied the out of state of NC schools.

It’s a shame to let ND play a full ACC schedule 1 year without further guaranteed commitments from them in the future. It should be an embarrassment to Swofford and the ACC to let them push the conference around to suit there goals only. I have never liked ND and will be glad to see them get their share of Karma. Be so glad when swofford is gone along with Ron Cherry who is a consultant assisting in training ACC officials. He has given Clemson the business over the years.

I was never a fan of the idea of leaving the ACC, but the time may have come. We all knew Swofford wouldn’t have the sack to do what’s right, but he should have kept his comments to himself. We are the ACC when it comes to football the last several years. How many millions of dollars has the conference made off Clemson’s back (5 CFP appearances, 4 Natty appearances, & two trophies)? You don’t want to stand up for what’s right? The SEC might, or perhaps go Independent like Notre Dame.

It seems to me that Swofford IS questioning Clemson’s medical staff . And is his statement a veiled threat that if we don’t play FSU, we won’t get to play in the ACCCG???? Frankly, I’d love to play them Dec.12 and beat them in the ground!

Who? And why?

The fact that 3 days later and we still don’t know who and more importantly why, has the stench of something rotten.

Last thought, Swofford has given us our out to not go back to FSU.
Straight out of his own mouth. No one is in position to question the Doctors. Perfect....in 3 weeks the Clemson Doctors can determine that it’s not safe to go to Tallahassee.

Y’all I get it. Clemson has every right to be pissed at FSU. I’m not trying to take any sides about Swoff but just imagine if he had publicly questioned a medical team in this crazy environment. It’s jyst a no win situation. For the record, yes, I think Clemson got screwed.

Tardog, you are not wrong in that Swofford probably read the room, saw how the national media was reacting to Dabos comments and then said "Follow what the Doctors say." Otherwise now its him being blasted on ESPN radio and of course "Pawwwwwl" NO WAY was he going to die on that hill as in the end, he is basically a politician with an athletic title.

The point is that in a sense he did question Clemson's medical team. In a sense, he questioned all of the medical professionals that set up the protocols that are there to make things as safe as possible. FSU's medical professionals vetoed the opinions of all the other medical professionals involved. By backing FSU, Swofford is saying that all of these other medical professionals are recklessly endangering these young men.

Swofford might be able to straddle the fence with the politically correct media, but I hope that he racks is nuts on it in the process.

FSU can’t blame COVID when all ACC protocols where met and, in some instances, exceeded. Clemson offers to play Saturday evening, Sunday, or Monday. FSU turned down each proposal. It was COVID related and I find it laughable that they are hiding behind the guise of exercising extreme caution for player safety. Hogwash.

Follow the medical works for day one. Clemson offered a day 2 & 3. Changed things and could have been medically worked out, as other games were. COVID did not cost this game. FSU & ACC continued non support of any CU position did. Call the SEC. We’ll replace USC or Vandy.

"People are following the protocols as agreed upon before the season started,...." Swell job Andrea!! How is it Commish that both schools followed the agreed upon protocols and yet the game was not played? Either Clemson did not appropriately follow the established protocols or we did. If we didn't follow the protocols,FSU was correct to cancel. If indeed both schools followed the protocols then FSU should forfeit.Either our medical staff was cavalier to recommend playing or FSU was timid to not play. There should have been a much better explanation coming out of Swofford.

Here is why his statement makes no sense:

********
"It's unfortunate and I don't think anyone is in a position to question the decision making of a medical officer in this type of situation," Swofford told ESPN's Andrea Adelson. "That's where the decision lies, and in the eyes of our presidents and athletic directors, that's where the decision should lie."

Swofford said he trusts the medical staff in place at the schools.

"I don't think there's any blame here," Swofford said. "We've got to remember the world in which we're operating right now. People are following the protocols as agreed upon before the season started, and people are trying to make the best decisions for the right reasons, and you respect that."

********

According to Swofford, the ACC allowed each school to make up its own protocols. And, even more than that, they allowed each school's medical staff to decide whether or not a game would be played.

So, according to Swofford, the medical staff of every school can unilaterally decide whether or not any game will be played. And, they can do it without consulting the administration. And, the administration cannot overrule them.

Sorry, but that doesn't pass the laugh test to me.

FSU admin are cowards. Since when do we let a medical staff call a game.....don’t give me the covid bs cause that’s exactly what it is.....bs......safety of the players? Give me a break. If they were concerned with the safety of the Noles, they would have a a S&C program in place to see that they don’t run out of players.
