Breaking News: Venables is really bad at math!

Of our starting 11 on defense, 7 had offers from Alabama and 4 did not. I'm including Albert Huggins (not Big Dex) in those numbers since Huggins is the starter now; altough both got offered by Bama.
The 4 that did not receive an offer from Alabama are: Clelin Ferrell, Kendall Joseph, Tanner Muse and Isaiah Simmons.
64% of our defensive starters had the option of going to Alabama. Venables was off by about 50%.
I appreciate Venables boldly claiming underdog status. But, that hot take wouldn't carry much water in the locker room since most of the guys would say "Uh, coach, actually..."
I'm not going to do the research, but I'd wager that more Clemson players had Alabama offers than Alabama players had Clemson offers. (Tua, for example, never even got a look from Clemson).

I am old enough to remember Joe Willie Namath taking the Jets to the Super Bowl. They were completely outclassed, or that is what everyone thought. We are in this guy’s, we are in this.

It would make sense that more Alabama players did not have Clemson offers since Clemson has a different recruiting style and does not offer every team in the country.

I believe you're correct for sure on that last statement, there are a lot of good Bama players that didn't get a look from Clemson. I wouldn't necessarily think it was a character thing, more likely academics. Am I wrong?

He might have meant committable offers

Alabama throws a lot of offers out there. For our 2019 signing class so far, I count 12 of 27 with Alabama offers from 247. For Alabama's signing class, I count 10 with Clemson offers.

In some ways Venables could be right even based on the math above. How hard did Bama recruit them, did Bama make home visits the day before signing to push them to Bama, or did Bama make cursory offers like many big schools do just in case the 1st choice goes elsewhere. Just take Venables statement for what it was.
Listen guys, Alabama doesn't think you were good enough for them, now go show them how good you are!!

Give or take one or two, I count 54 defensive players on roster, 19 were offered by Bama, and only one that I don't understand not getting a Bama offer, and that was Clelin Ferrell. From the 54 that I counted on our D roster, there are some that I don't understand getting an offer from Clemson, and some were border line.

An offer from Alabama doesn’t mean much until they let you sign. A lot of kids forced to decommit. All part of the “process”

Bottom line is Bama is not going to fold they are going to hit us in the mouth, we have got to hit back. We can not give them anything, we must make everything they get hard. The Tigers have got to answer every score , every hard hit and just hit harder. I believe in the end we wear them out .

It's all coaches speak. Honestly, I've NEVER heard Venables speak so highly of a player and team in any interview the way he did. Alabama definitely deserves all of the credit, but I think Venables is just pumping sunshine for now until he UNLEASHES HIS WRATH!!! He's playing mind games lol 34-24 Tigers

Since their players want to make TL "Uncomfortable" we need to make sure TT is "Miserable."

If we handle Tua for three quarters Sabin no doubt will put in Hurts looking for another miracle. If Tua's ankle hurts then Hurts will play. Either way BV has prepared for that too.

Imo part of what makes Tua so good is that he has great timing and a strong rhythm... I see the Tigers defense disrupting his game & making him appear much more human. They will cause him to be uncomfortable for much of the game, throwing off his timing/rhythm. Some well timed blitzes could be key in order to disrupt his ######. If Hurts comes in, play more contain & choke him out Imo...
