Trip to Clemson makes things clearer for top tight end

With a trip to Death Valley in the books, the recruiting picture for nation’s top 2021 tight end is becoming clearer. 4-star Brentwood (TN) Ravenwood tight end Jake Briningstool picked up a Clemson offer at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp in June and made his first trip to Death Valley for last week’s 24-10 win over Texas A&M.

He would certainly add to our diversity. He has a very BC or Auburny sounding name at Tight End. Auburn especially always seems to have a Hildebloom or Lingenwhammy type name at Tight End.

To be a college TE, this kid will have to put on a ton of muscle weight at 6'6" 215. He may not be ready to play until he is a junior. He may have to play as a receiver before he has grown into TE size ;)

At the very latest, those measurements were taken this past summer. That means they were taken more than 2 full years before this kid will be eligible to play in a college football game.

He is just a junior in high school right now. I'm guessing he enters a college program around 230 and gets to 245 or 250 by the end of his freshman year.

If he enrolls early or really gets after it when he arrives during the summer, I could see him add weight similar to what we saw from KJ Henry and Justin Mascoll to get him to around 245 or 250 before his first season. I believe either one or both of them played their senior year of high school in the 220-230 range.

No but instead of calling the players out, he took the high road and called the coaches out. That was a very sophisticated way of digging out there s&c program and/or giving props to ours.
