TL’s INT vs FSU

correct me if I’m wrong.. but isn’t it illegal for a player to go out of bounds and come back in and be the first player to touch the ball?.. cause that’s what happened...

That was asked on here previously, and someone claimed

that only applied to defenders on punt or kick returns.

I thought I saw an explanation on here that it only applies

to an offensive player. All a defensive player needs to do is establish being back in bounds with both feet, which he did, and he is free to intercept the ball.

Again, I saw that explanation in a post on here, I have not seen the actual rule.

it's only if the offensive player goes out without being forced out, as long as the defensive player has re-established themselves in bounds then it is legal, the bigger issue is that it was a brain dead play by Trevor & when it comes playoff time, he can't do that, that is at least the 3rd head scratcher this year where he basically just threw it up for grabs & it got picked.

For some reason that rule only applies for offensive players that go out of bounds on their own. If an offensive player is forced out of bounds then comes back in it's ok. On defense apparently they can run out of bounds and go back in and it's ok.

There was a Tiger wide open down the field. TL just didn’t get it that far.

what like 10 yards further down the field? I don't recall a Clemson receiver anywhere close to it

Yes - I might be wrong, but I thought it was Amari downfield. An easy 6 points if TL16 gets it over the defenders reach.

Oh I saw Amari open, but he had to throw it much further down the field the ball had way too much air under it

He had went out of bounds with the defender tho so he couldn't have legally caught it.
