players to fake injuries. And their players taunting our fans and players. I saw the first guy who faked an injury. I was looking right at him. He looked straight at the coaches and got a signal to fake an injury. When he got up he was limping on the opposite leg he claimed to have injured. Then he switched up and limped on the other leg while walking.

you are really trying to give them crap as if they wanted to be injured. Booing some time wasting jerk for faking an injury is entirely appropriate.
It has been mentioned by some coaches and some players that fake injuries are part of the game. Especially when an offense runs HUNH. Not all of the injuries last night were legit.

SO please fellow Clemson fans, stop the booing..just b/c UGa players seemed to be faking injuries in 2013 due to fast tempo...but this year our O tempo is normal.

I booed the fake injuries last night, and when an opposing team appears to fake an injury in the future I will boo then as well. I'd do it in front of my kids (if I had em) and really don't feel guilty because of it. It's cheating.
And I'm not the only one. I am also not a "classless POS" like an unnamed TigerNet user called me earlier today.

Explain how the NCAA can legislate real/fake injuries? Can
Oct 27, 2014, 9:57 AM

YOU tell when a player is lying on the ground if it is fake. Time will be called when a player is injured, fake or otherwise, so the booing accomplishes nothing. Are fake injuries frustrating? Definately but it is part of the game, like it or not.

NCAA can legislate that if you need a trainer, you cannot return for 5 game minutes or the end of the series, whichever comes first. Coaches will be less likely to have a player drop down because of that. Though Cuse had players go down in the redzone, so that is a work around of my idea.

http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/index.ssf/2014/10/syracuse_footballs_scott_shafer_on_clemson_fans_booing_injured_players_they_can.html
"They can do whatever they want down here," SU head coach Scott Shafer said in his postgame press conference. "Next question."
SU defensive end Robert Welsh said that he didn't take the grumblings personally, adding that he knows those fans aren't supposed to be fond of the Orange players. He did pass along a funny anecdote about the play that followed Thompson's injury though.
Clemson called a pitch play to C.J. Davidson on the right side, perfectly timed as Welsh, the left defensive end, was stunting to the inside. When the ball touched Davidson's fingertips outside the right hashes, he had only 20 yards of open pasture in front of him.
But Davidson couldn't secure the toss and ultimately fumbled it.
"I saw the ball bobbling," Welsh said. "At first I thought one of our guys was going to pick it up, but then I saw it take another hop and I just dove on it."
While Welsh said he didn't think the sequence was a result of karma following the booing, he mentioned a joke Thompson passed along to him after the fumble recovery.
"It was funny though," Welsh said with a grin, "Ron did say we can thank him for that (injury) because they had to slow momentum down."

Not just faking injuries but trying to meet the team at the hill and taunting fans. If refs weren't standing there they probably would have ran right in front of the goal post. I can't wait for deshaun to throw for 500 on them in their place.

Last year and this year there have been numerous cases against the hunh offense of convenient injuries that stopped, or slowed the drive down significantly. Those players seem unscathed and return to play almost immediately. After about the 3rd or 4th convenient injury, the fans may tend to consider it's in the game plan. I'm not saying booing is right. I never heard booing. But there were a lot of discouraged fans around me screaming No, come on, and no way. This faking injuries thing needs to be looked at very closely and some rules need to be put in place around it.

the field, then you should be evaluated for more than one play. It is for the players safety not to rush him back in the game. We saw Michigan jeopardize their starting QB earlier in the year by playing him during the same drive that he came out on while displaying concussion like symptoms. Even if it is a cramp, then you need more than 30 seconds to drink fluids. You should be out the rest of the series at least. If you get injured twice that requires timeout on the field, then you should be done for the day.

I don't care! I'm tired of people taking dives on us! If he wants to be upset with someone, he should be upset at the Syracuse coaching staff. Can't expect the crowd to know the difference when there I a actual injury and not a flopper.

Their coach goes on a rant throwing f-bombs all over the place at our coach last year, he makes fun of people dying in an ice storm in Atlanta, he then obviously tells his players to fake injuries, now their is all these stories coming out from this weekend about how horrible their fans and players acted, and we need to meet their level of class??? I'll pass, the rest of you can apologize if you want.

It was classless, no question on that. From your seat, you have no real way to know! Why not take the high road and show the yanks we are the better team. You can always read the injury reports the day after and if you're right complain then.... Heck I would even complain with you at that point. One of the guys went off in crutches. Grow a pair and act like real men.

that turned around and flipped off all the Clemson fans behind him while the booing was going on. And as I recall No One booed the injuries early or while they were on offense. Only the rash of 'injuries' when the tempo picked up.

Boo-gate is getting out of hand...
Oct 27, 2014, 9:44 AM
|
|
I don't like the booing because I don't think it is possible to know if a player is really hurt or not sitting in the stands. I understand that some say they saw a player(I believe #13) look to the sidelines and fall down, but I did not see that on TV so it comes across as classless for anyone not attending the game. You would think that someone would have caught the incident on video so we can at least present a case. Georgia didn't even try to make the injuries look real, but looking at the sidelines before going down is that really an indication of faking an injury?

I personally don't like the fact of using "there's no way to tell" as a reason...that's exactly why faking is getting out of hand...coaches know there's no easy way to prove or disprove it. To me though (let's use this game as a big showing point), can you say that Cuse's time out they took in the first quarter that just so happened to be when Clemson drove into the red zone with tempo was not a tactic being used to slow down momentum? And of those injuries, how many of them happened 1) not in the red zone, and 2) not when Clemson was gaining momentum with successful plays being done with up-tempo? I think it's obvious one of Cuse's game tactics before the game ever started was to stunt Clemson's tempo...the time out for no reason other than that makes it obvious they were willing to do thing to break momentum...so is it really absurd for people to think that injuries being faked also might not have been a part of it, seeing most of them also happened in about the same point that the time out did? I mean, you only have 3 of them a half, so you can't keep using them to stop momentum, so what's another way when your defense is on its heels?

Taking timeouts when we are driving the ball is boo worthy?
Oct 27, 2014, 11:28 AM
|
|
Maybe so, timeouts are a legit part of playing the game so I have no problem with that. Yeah it may hurt our momentum, but at the same time I like the fact that the other team uses timeouts that they may need at the end of the game. The problem that I have with all of this is that you are assuming that you know that the injury is fake. I can't say that with any certainty and don't know how you can. I know everyone was booing the tactic and not the player, but it just does not look very classy. I just expect more out of Clemson fans. We pride ourselves on being welcoming hosts, but then act like that.

The more I think about it, it's pretty bad. Booing the guys who are on the ground faking an injury is meh...don't like it, but don't get worked up about it either. But when the stadium boos an offensive player who's down, then it really comes off badly. It's time for some people to get their heads on straight.
