Superstition (long)

Sep 7, 2017, 8:02 PM

OK guys, I know some of you have to be as superstitious as me. I either have to watch the game at home in a specific chair, at my dads house in a specific chair, or be at the game personally. I am almost positive that three of our five straight losses to the Coots were due to the fact that I watched the game at my brothers house. The night Matt Ryan beat us with the Hail Mary, I was watching while camping. We lost to UNC when I watched in Gatlinburg one year. I am however 2-0 at Myrtle Beach. Last year vs Auburn, and one of the years of Woody Dantzler, but Roscoe Crosby got his nose broken in the calibration. I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I also went through a spell one time where if I wore Clemson gear on gameday, we would lose, so I would wear plain orange shirts on gameday! I know that this is silly, and much of my superstition has gone away over the last two seasons, but, I can't help to think that if we have a bad drive and I position my hands or feet differently, that the outcome of the game will change. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, so tell me your superstitions about Clemson Football!!

Bro, you have no idea and I know exactly where you are coming from. I have worn the same Clemson shirt every game since let's just say a while. And I know exactly what you are talking about hands and feet position. I'm a little extreme about it too, lol. Also, I feel like I can't say things because they will be jinxed but that's a normal one. Anyways I could go on and on. And I feel like it's my fault we lost to Pitt last year because I didn't do any hands or feet positions the whole game week. I know it is dumb but you can guarantee I did every hand and feet position that next week. Lol but yes I have a problem as well and I'm glad someone else does too! Haha!

I've got a friend at work that is a HUGE FSU FAN! He sits in a specific chair at his house and if they start losing, he paces the living room until he finds a spot that they do good in and he will stand there until they do bad and then he's on the move again. I hope he does a lot of pacing this year!!

I always wear either socks or boxers with the same color as the opponents' team colors. I never wear a Clemson shirt, only a Clemson hat which as been signed by all of the coaches. Well, unless I'm at the game. I also have to listen to the Instrumental Version of All of The Lights. It helps I think.

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

There is actually a radio station that I would always leave the dial in BOTH of our vehicles set to. Even after the radio station didn't exist anymore. I would just turn it to the static in that channel. My wife swore I was crazy! At halftime if we were losing, I would go out to the SUV and the truck and change the station!!

Every little thing helps! These guys are depending on us. I used to be the same way for the Braves as a kid, but there was nothing I could do to help that dumpster fire!!

Mine is, and always has been, my clothing. Down to my underwear is the same for every game the last 2 years. I panicked bc I didn't have my socks on during championship game...I corrected that in 2nd qtr and that is the only reason we won!!!

I also sit in the same bag chair in my living room for away games.

I drive the exact same route to Clemson for home games, including pulling a U-turn on 123 to turn onto 93. Even stop at the same gas station for ice and a Rockstsr every week.

I was the same way playing sports all the way back to Little League.

I know that if I set my DVR to record a game so I can watch it later when I get back from the same game...we'll lose.

The more confident I am that we'll win, the more likely we are to lose (any coot game during the stretch).

The bigger the plan is, the more likely we are to lose.

E.g. for the Championship in AZ, it was a big family trip, rented a house, spent days there, had a town car take us to and pick us up from the game (mother-in-laws contribution...really wasn't much more expensive than parking pass), visited tourist things...we lost.

For Championship in Tampa, drove down from ATL the day of the game, checked into a cheap hotel 20 miles away from stadium at 3:00, took a short nap, went to dinner at Applebees near the stadium, parked in someones front yard for $20. We won. Back to hotel. Drove back to ATL the next morning.

I stopped using the DVR on games back in the Kyle Parker days. I swear, EVERY TIME I would record a big game, we would lose!!

Clemson is 4-0 when I watch them at Wild Wing Cafe in Charlotte (vs Louisville 2014, 2015 Orange Bowl, Auburn game last year and the ACC title game vs VT) and they haven't lost since 2013 when I've watched the entire game on Watch ESPN. They seem to lose most of their games when I watch at a family member's house or when I'm not able to watch the entire game (last year's Pitt, 2014 UGA/GT and even the 2006 VT games vividly come to mind). Also, we didnt end the 5 game coot losing streak until I bought a new flat screen TV. I'll be holding onto it until I die lol

I'm with you. My mom insisted that we come to the table and eat dinner in the 4th quarter of the Pitt game. She said she didn't cook all day just for it to get cold. If I had it to do over again, she'd just have to have hurt feelings!!
