Struggled?

Nov 10, 2014, 8:58 AM

Hmmmm, I don't know about that. We gave Wake their first 17 points. We limit our mistakes and it's not even close.

Id say our offense has been struggling a lot.

Ummm, yes we definitely struggled. We were tied 20-20 in the fourth quarter with the worst team in the nation.

You mentioned that if we limited our mistakes, it wouldn't have been close...but that's what struggling is: making mistakes and/or not executing. You essentially said "if we didn't struggle, we wouldn't have struggled."

Yep, same stuff we've seen for weeks now. Mistakes on

offense and ST that have both taken points off the board for us and given the other teams points. When it happens consistently week in and week out it can no longer be labeled a fluke - it's more of a characteristic of the team.

Really hoping Watson can spark us again.

Yea we absolutely need him to show up big for us. Personally, I think his impact will be shown immediately for two reasons:

1. The defense will now have to respect both the QB and RB on run plays.

2. The defense will no longer be able to crowd the line. For the past 3-4 games, defenses haven't feared the deep pass and therefore have been able to focus on shutting down the outside pass and run. With Watson slinging it, that goes out the window.

Getting Watson back is making me feel giddy.

A struggle is exactly what it felt like while i was watching

the game. Sure we pulled away in the last 10 minutes of the game, but it was more of the same up until that point against an even weaker opponent than we have struggled with the last few weeks.

We made some kind of surprising mistakes in this one

Nov 10, 2014, 11:16 AM

The offense actually moved the ball pretty well for most of the game, but we pretty much spotted Wake a couple of TDs off of turnovers. Normally you don't see only 119 yards of offense when a team has 20 points. That offensive output usually leads to around 7 points.

Those top 6-7 teams are pretty good

Nov 10, 2014, 11:09 AM

It's the rest of the teams that really take away from what the top 6 teams have been doing. Schools like VT, UVa, UNC, Pitt and NC State have to pick up the slack and fulfill a good bit more of their potential. Schools like Wake and Syracuse need to at least be locks to beat FCS schools and lower tier FBS schools, but they've even been shaky against bad teams this year.
