It can be expanded. But...why? 82K is about right for our needs right now. Even while on top of the college football world. With any more seats the already stressed parking situation would be worse and traffic would become even more of a mess. I say stick with what we have.

The only negative would be the sun reflection from the bleachers to the people in the south deck when Syracuse/BC/Wake/UVA/Duke/GT bring 20 fans.
But for real, the walk up there in 2014 in the heat was awful. Thought it would never end. Glad they took the cap from my Powerade, so I couldn't throw the bottle on the field from there.

Anyway, I seem to recall that I heard rumors about connecting West End Zone to both North & South Stands some years back. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Yes, I have a wild idea for you. Think outside the box.
1) rip up the grass, install a field made of plexi-grass--(grass that is transparent).
2) And have comfortable seating underneath the field, with the chairs tilted slightly up and rotate to follow the ball.-- It's futuristic, and no one else would have this feature at their stadium.
You could fit a solid 3,000 people underneath the field.
OR
You could fill in the South endzones with about 3,000 seats. Then add another 5-10 rows atop the west endzone. That's another 5,000 people. So maybe another 8-10k seats.
Just thinking. Thoughts?

call it The Hill Extension, and stick the students there. That will open up more seating inside the stadium for real fans.
It's a win win.

I agree those students aren't alumni yet they haven't earned their place in the stadium.

I've thought about this before... Could you not connect the two upper decks above the hill? Leave the hill as is (obviously don't want to mess with the best tradition in CF) but put an upper deck above it. I think it would put the bleachers basically on top of the road. But I think you could still leave the road as is... I know you could definitely drive a car underneath the upper decks now (think about all the room that is under there and all the people that fit while entering or exiting the lower deck). From above, it would look like a horseshoe I guess.

Connecting the upper decks is made difficult by the fact that they are different.

The original sketches of the West Zone....

showed two levels of club seating and an upper deck (similar to that in Tuscaloosa, Blacksburg, College Station, etc). Looked like crap to me.
In my opinion, add premium seating....enclose the covered seating on the lower west endzone and make it premium seating. Maybe add some seating/suites in the NE and SE corners (where the temporary seating is located).

Take an inch or 2 away from each seat on each row to make 1 or 2 extra seats per row, no construction needed and adds a few more seats.
Also might make some people want to go on a diet.
Who sits at games anyway, need to be standing up and yelling.

Extend the upper decks toward the hill but don't connect them. Leave room for a big HD screen/scoreboard. Outside the stadium build several viewing towers (cf., CN Tower in Toronto) that extend well above the upper decks, allowing people to see into the stadium, out over Lake Hartwell, or across the campus.
