Speaking of 50-50 balls...

I seem to recall quite a few "50-50" balls by Tua - only a heckuva lot more of his were knocked down, dropped or intercepted. Not saying he didn't throw some nice ones, especially over the middle, but Trevor also threw some absolute ropes. Maybe 2 or 3 guys in the country could throw those - not only Monday but all season.
Tua's talented -sure - but the standard line was always, "He has an uncanny ability to shake off a bad play." Yeah, he can shake off 1 or 2 a game, but 5, 6 or 7? No. It started affecting him. He got pressured finally & it got to him - rattled him. Lawrence won the "cool under pressure" contest between those 2.

What is this pressure Lawrence was cool under? Zero sacks do not indicate pressure. Our OL dominated the Alabama defensive line, and I am giving them credit...Domination!

By "pressure" I mean simply it was a mighty huge stage for a 19 year old true freshman. It's true he got great protection, but he also dodged a few blitzes too and played about as cool as any teenage freshman could in his first Natty. To go from playing in high school 1 year ago to the CFP finals? Maybe 1 kid in a 1000 could pull that off.

Go back and look at how many times he stood tall and released the ball right before getting hit. He was under some pressure but it did not rattle him like it did Tua. I said all along if you get in Tua's face he will fold like a cheap lawn chair and he did.

I mean there is a difference in Pressure and Sacks. Trevor felt pressure a few times, but he has that alarm in his head and quick release to get rid of the ball. The long TD pass to Ross he got drilled off the edge, but yes the Oline did their part. Trevor was ready for whatever was thrown at him, the stage was not to bright at all for him.

What game were you watching? He was pressured quite a few times. He stood in there delivering strikes knowing he was about to get hit. Yes the o line was OUTSTANDING, but TL was still pressured.

Tua had never lost an NCAA or any other championship game. He had no idea how bad life can get.

I distinctly remember one 50/50 ball Tua threw. It was thrown to about the 50 yard line and returned for a pick 6 for about 50 yards. That's my kind of 50/50 ball.
