Sooooo ... regarding fan experience in Death Valley

Jan 25, 2018, 10:16 AM

DRad says there is a demand for "premium seating" ...

Should that be translated to "Clemson has a demand for squeezing more money from its donors" ??

Rather than improving the overall fan experience, the choice is to add more luxury for the well to do.

Well they're the ones that pay the big bucks.

But really, I'm not sure what to make of that. Are they adding better seats or are they replacing some seats with new ones or what.

I don't think it's designed to squeeze more money from current box seat donors.

I think it's to build nicer boxes to entice more people/businesses to upgrade from regular seats to boxes.

There are a lot of businesses out there that need to spend marketing dollars on clients that are spending that budget elsewhere.

Do we see chair back seating in certain areas?

well if it means making gameday look sparse and boring like

it looks on gamedays in LIttlejohn i say no thanks. Or at least make sure those seats aren't visible from the TV cameras. Littlejohn renovations may be nice but from the vantage point of gameday atmosphere it looks like no one comes and the fans aren't engaged. Because you've now moved the fans that actually engage (students, younger crowd) and replaced them with the low energy (sit on my a$$ all game) crowd that have no energy. Duke does it right by making sure fans that are loud and rambunctious are up close and personal surrounding the entire court in the first 10-15 rows. They put the low energy crowd out of the way so they don't look boring. I liked when we used to have the standing area behind the backboards. Even people that didn't care about sports came to those games b/c it was fun and lively.

The new arrangment was a horrible change in littlejohn. What used to be a lively raucous student fan base, up in everyones business, is displaced to far from action. Which all that means is they sit on their phones all game. While the older rich crowd sits and snoozes or sometimes don't show up b/c its too cold or they're tired. WE look weak.

I'm just happy I don't get splinters in my buttocks any more.

I enjoy roughing it with aluminum bleachers and a seat back.***

The law of scarcity and diminished marginal returns seems to be something DRad is not familiar with.
