Attended my son’s meet today as well. Someone didn’t get the “message” apparently.

Teenagers can’t die. It’s impossible.

My son took my youngest grandson to a Ninety Six High soccer

match this afternoon and I worked all day in our public schools. Strange how selective our society has become.I still have a conference scheduled at Myrtle Beach next week and got an e-mail from the hotel reporting on how they are keeping things clean for us. But I guess we are just days away from total shutdown.

Public school educators aren’t as dumb as those who educate our young adults.

1) you can’t presume that your students are responsible for their own education
2) you can’t tell your students “I guess you’ll have to repeat that class since you missed 20 days of school” to an entire school district
3) you can’t cancel school without shutting down the entire economy in your town
4) you don’t have the $&#@s to simultaneously tell your students how much you care about them to prevent their sickness even while screwing up their future

Or is it

localized events don’t pose as great a risk factor
If local educators start pandering to students, your relationships with your students are done
Local educators know the importance students place on those activities and the drama that cancelling them would cause

Take your pick, or create your own.

Basically I’m pi$$ed at college admins right now because my daughter, a senior at GCSU, has a graduation requirement that is now in jeopardy because the health freaks have cancelled the conference where she was supposed to present. She is going to have to fight for an alternative, but no one wants to give her one. If she were already applying to grad schools they would be bending over backwards to avoid looking uncooperative.
