DE,(Not countng Bresee), and potentially two 5*s at DT, plus Tyler Davis and others who are pretty dadgum good....Three/Four 5*s in the secondary plus several others that were borderline 5*s....
IMHO the defense will be ok this year....

But we lost the state in recruiting so we can't get too excited.
Apparently recruits are much better when they play college football in the state in which they grew up, so don't get too excited about all of our 5 stars from around the country.

I know that is really hard to admit, but we have brought in the best players in SC on average, so losing the instate recruiting battle isn't a bad thing, is it?

I hope the sarcasm was detected in my post.
I am certainly not worried about signing very few players from the state when the state is at a maybe all-time low for elite talent.

I have to agree, but it is my opinion that we have averaged better that OK in our worst seasons under a BV defense!!!

I am about to sell a home to a couple from West Virginia...

He was kindly ribbing me about the 70 point fiasco. I asked him if he was familiar with The Tale of Two Cities? He said he was so I said, " Then you are also familiar with the phrase,'It was the best of times,it was the worst of times' "........without that game,we may not have Venables, and without Venables I doubt we have two Natty's.

I expect Bresee, Murphy and Simpson (yes, 3 freshman!) to take our edge rushing to another level. Obviously Bresee will also get a lot of time at DT.

will free up the DEs some. And Davis will be a year older and stronger.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bresee move inside on occasion. Going to be fun to watch, that's for sure.

Capehart is the guy I'm going to be following besides Bresee and Murphy. He's really been talked up (supposedly the best DT ever at IMG his senior year) and we'll see if he makes an impact as a freshman.
If Capehart forces playing time, Bresee will be on the outside a whole lot more than expected.
I'm probably more keyed up about spring practice this year than ever.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the D backfield but the talent is there. This DL, though...
I can't wait.
