My niece's school in VA gave them an extended spring break

Mar 18, 2020, 7:29 AM

because of the coronavirus. But she and her friends, seeing the incredible low air fares right, decided to take advantage of the time for a trip to California. And many other college students are doing the same thing, hoping on planes and going across the USA.

It would have been better to just keep them in class and cancel all periphery events.

So much for

Parental control, apparently.

Parental control hasn't been a thing for a long time.

My kids...and their friends

Would disagree with that about me and my wife! ;)

There's tons of parental control in this country.

Most kids control their parents.

If that's what they did, it's incredibly selfish.

I bet most of them are part of the “feel the burn” movement.

Free and cheap is all that matters while letting others pay the price.

'Feel the burn'? Is Jane back?

Unfortunately this is not surprising...

Mar 18, 2020, 8:11 AM

I can chalk some of this up to them being young and "invincible" - which has been a trait of young folks for many generations. However, their preference for "me, myself, and I" over a sense of civic duty has gotten much worse within the last two generations.

true but it has gotten into people of all ages. Its an "all about me" attitude these days

But if they don't travel somewhere they will never be able

Mar 18, 2020, 9:08 AM

to get that perfect spring break Instagram pic. And if they don't get that pic, they will never get any likes. THAT IS NO WAY TO LIVE!
