So let me get this straight on the Coot's coaching search...

So far this year the following coaching hires (or rehires) have been made:
Tom Herman - Houston
Kirby Smart - Georgia
Justin Fuente - Virginia Tech
Mark Richt - Miami
Bronco Mendenhall - Virginia
Scott Frost - Central Florida
Barry Odom - Missouri
D.J. Durkin - Maryland
Clay Helton - USC (the real USC)
There are others but you can see my point. None of these schools had an opening prior to Spurrier walking out on the chickens. I'm not saying that any of these coaching jobs are better than the chicken job, just that there have been many candidates available for Ray Tanner at USuC to pull the trigger on. Herman was likely the top prospect for any Power 5 school looking for a new head coach (and was the one many Coots were touting as their guy). Others who were on their initial short list were Fuentes and Smart. Herman, Smart, and Fuentes are all gone now, as is Richt. Tanner has had something like seven weeks to get their guy, but hasn't been able to close the deal. The chickens have now had to drop to their second and third tier choices and still haven't closed the deal, even with the regular season over and candidates available who have no more football to play.
Serius qweshun - Is Ray Tanner incompetent, or is the Coot coaching job just that bad?

I think it's a little of both. I find it funny that the job has been open since mid October and they haven't gotten anyone. Maybe they get Muschamp, but at this point, who knows.

It could also include the huge negative of losing to the Citadel. Not good to lose to the Citadel during your coaching search!
