As I remember - he was called multiple times for being in motion at the snap.

I would assume he is in class considering he is practicing in the indoor facility. I highly doubt Dabo and the staff would allow him to practice if he wasn't going to class.

has learned his lesson and will become a better person. It feels like Lakip may have been a bad influence and hopefully his departure will help keep the others from straying into trouble.

True but you have to know how to stay away from bad company. It's the choices this young man makes that concerns me most. His decision making and maturity level are concerns. I hope he gets it because he probably has 0 chances left.

because three players had a positive urinalysis, it doesn't mean they were using together. I'd guess they were using when they went home for Christmas.

why the dog house?
Feb 17, 2016, 11:03 AM

how is this related to the dog house? seems like he's just running routes with the backup QB. I think that what Deon did was an isolated incident, not actually smoking, but stupidly doing it on a team trip. I just think we should let the whole incident die quick
this should be more about Cain becoming a great WR than trying to prove Tnet wrong

he's interned - dog-housed just like sammy and those before him that have something to prove to make it back.
it happens and it's completely up to him, but dabo made it clear he either plays by the rules or plays somewhere else.
that's always been the case, deon cain, sammy, ghop, ammon or anyone else that found themselves on dabo's double secret probation - how he responds to punishment according to the article. that's D HOUSE if there ever was...
CLEMSON
Dabo Swinney hopes Clemson’s 20-point win over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl not only sends a message to the rest of the country but also to Tigers wide receiver Deon Cain.
The freshman from Tampa was sent home from the Orange Bowl, along with kicker Ammon Lakip and tight end Jay Jay McCullough, for violating team rules. Multiple reports stated the three failed a drug test.
Lakip and McCullough are done at Clemson, according to Swinney. Cain will miss the National Championship Game and might miss some of next season depending on how he responds to the punishment.
“He has to make a decision if he wants to be a great player at Clemson,” Swinney said. “If you want to be a great player at Clemson then you have to follow the rules. It is just that simple or otherwise you have to go somewhere else, so he will figure that out."
Cain had 34 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns and led Clemson in yards per catch at 17.1, but the Tigers did not need him in a 37-17 victory over Oklahoma. Clemson finished the game with 530 yards of offense.
Former walk-on Hunter Renfrow got more playing time, catching four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Walk-on kicker Greg Huegel connected on three field goals and made all four PATs.
“Our walk-ons scored more points than Oklahoma's team in the ballgame. I think that's a great message to a guy like Deon Cain,” Swinney said. “That sends a message that we can win without you, and hopefully he will do what he’s got to do because at some point you have to grow up.”

I am not so sure about Lakip. I was told by a Deputy Sheriff in Ga. that Lakip was arrested on I-85 in his county for drug possession his freshman year at Clemson. I have not gone to the court house to pull the official deposition in the Clerks office, but I have no reason to doubt the Deputy. It seems like Dabo may give second AND THIRD chances.

and he remains so or he'd be gone.
aside from seriously jonesing for football, my offseasons are really relaxing several years into a hc and staff who are ALL smarter than i am..there is absolutely nothing about our football program that my input would improve.

It also helps to probably be the most talented Wideout in the country. He knows the NFL is close, no more slip ups until he signs his name on the contract. I think we are going to be hearing a lot about the Williams/Cain combo by the end of the year. Peoe are going to want to watch, even ESPN will give in eventually.

for the two biggest games of the year..and just like when he suspended sammy, it shows it does not matter who you are, the rules are the rules..it will surely prove to be the best decision for deon and this program and is exactly why mommas and grandmommas want their kids to play for dabo.
