I agree but a dig at Nike and their sweat shop colonialism is very much in order. They deserve to be ridiculed for this

At the very least, this self-destructing footwear will get some discussion going about the conditions in which overpriced athletic shoes are being produced.
I have a different question:
Since Zion lost his shoe going to the ball, is Duke now a Cinderella team?

Some poor kid is going to lose his, or her, 3 cents per hour job over this. At least that were the equivalent wages back when I did my dissertation on Asian sweat shops for International Business. Who knows, it could be a whole nickle today.

Nike had shaved some costs for those shoes. They were about $0.14/pair to produce and they got it down to $0.12/pair using cheaper glue.
