game will come to you if you subscribe. Recruits will see you all season long. And I expect an SEC Network to be a state of the art operation-no Raycom for sure.

How does subscriber fees translate to school revenues?

I doubt its 1:1, because if it is, the SEC schools could stand to earn 70+ million per year off the SEC network alone.

From what I have seen expressed by 'media experts' is by 2015/16 the SEC Cable distribution could match the 25MM that the SEC expects with the new media contract (total distribution to members maybe 50MM). By network maturity (2020?) the 70MM number you mention is a reasonable projection, so a total payout to each team of maybe 90-100MM, if the network works (Longhorn has not, and Big 10 has had lots of growing pains).

Big 10 Network got past growing pains and is now working

Jun 13, 2012, 1:09 PM

very well for them. That's why the SEC is apparently going to that business model.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would a coot rush over to Tigernet to post this???

Jun 12, 2012, 5:41 PM

especially with that most ridiculous, overused and trite heading "WOW.....JUST WOW"???????????????

Oh yeah........its the way of the chickentroll.

Some advice----rush this info over to someone who cares.

Jun 13, 2012, 1:03 PM

while the coots rake in even more money

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

By all means let's STAY IN THE ACC

Jun 13, 2012, 1:56 PM

We'll have the biggest stadium in the 2nd Tier School Division!

we could remove both upper decks next time they need to repair Hartwell ###

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So What?

Jun 13, 2012, 2:34 PM

People who subscribe to the SEC Network will get lots of content.

Re: So What?

Jun 13, 2012, 7:41 PM

Actually the cable network (charter, time Warner, comcast) will likely add it to to the basic package and charge every subscriber a buck or three regardless of whether they want it or not

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So that means many Clemson fans would be supporting SCar.

Jun 13, 2012, 7:46 PM

indirectly, financially. Talk about a kick to the gut.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So that means many Clemson fans would be supporting SCar.

Jun 13, 2012, 8:14 PM

That is the model that the Big 10 figured out and most expect the SEC to copy. They will try to get it packaged as a expanded basic channel, charge 2-3+ per household if the state is seen as an SEC market, .10 to .15 cents for non SEC states and rake in a billion or so a year.

A very effective use of 3rd tier rights for their sport programs.

Re: So that means many Clemson fans would be supporting SCar.

Jun 13, 2012, 8:24 PM

That is not good. This should outrage EVERY Clemson fan.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, this SHOULD inspire the realization that Clemson

Jun 13, 2012, 8:58 PM

needs every last penny it can get in order to compete.

Key word: should.
