In all fairness, what exactly, other than opposing anything Trump, does the democratic party stand for? Specifically, policies and platforms. Does the DNC want to move extremely left ala Sanders, Warren Schumer, Feinstein & Peolsi or more mainstream with the new Rep Lamb basically running on a Trump ticket?

I think your question does highlight a problem the dems have. They seem to want to be against anything that Trump does, even if it's a good thing. It's much like the Reps. with Obama but that doesn't make it right.
The smart move is to work with Trump on those issues that the Dems agree with, Daca, healthcare, strong defense, infrastructure and benefitting the middle class.
For the last 30 years the middle class has taken a beating in healthcare, wages and frankly political power.
Many dems voted for Trump because he highlighted a 'rigged economy'. Unfortunately, his policies seem to have rigged it even more.
Trump wouldn't be so hard to stomach if he kept to his campaign promises and drained the swamp. Wilbur Ross, DeVoe, Mnuchin, Gary Cohn...etc, have been creatures of the swamp for decades.
Trump's policies and recklessness make him a target rich environment. There is just so much wrong with the man.
But back to your question, I've listed those things that are 'supposed to be' important to dems and what they should run on.
Unfortunately, as long as they stay married to Pelosi, Shumer and that crowd they're not going to get much further than 'spoiler' to trump...which is what McConnell, Cantor and Boehner were.
I'm a liberal independent by the way.
