on his notepad and give a total towards the end? The moderator isn't going to do fact checking supposedly, but knowing what we know about Chris Wallace, he'll find a way to do a bit of it, but not all.
Sleepy Joe - "Donald, you told, by my tally, another 47 lies tonight."

If the moderator isn’t going to make any effort to distinguish information from disinformation, why have a moderator at all? Just put the questions on cards or something.

Moderators are completely useless

Just put the question up on a screen with a timer. When the timer is at 0, cut the mic.

easy task for any of the moderators of any of the debates to fact check every one of his lies or there would be no time for the actual debate.
However, he can ask the question while relaying the facts so that any lies will be obvious and occasionally point out the most egregious examples, especially ones about Covid.

comments on the validity of a debater’s claim. I think one did in the Hillary vs Trump debate and everyone was shocked. Moderators control the debate and ask the questions, they don’t assess the validity or quality of a response. That’s the other debater...or our....role.

He should ignore him completely and stay on message. I mean do not even engage him in any way. When he interrupts, patiently wait for him to make an #### out of himself and politely ask the moderator for his time back.

most people voting for Biden are actually voting against Trump's behavior.
Let Trump be Trump and send a crystal clear unifying call to action to the American people.

If they both thought they could catch the other one off guard by being extra polite and civil.
I don't think either one could pull it off, but it would be surreal.
