Do we think this has anything to do with Ellis Johnson leaving USuC?

He contacted the USC staff to let them know they were still in it. The in-home with Spurrier may be back on.

He wants to play in SEC. Advantage UF. He wants to be closer to home. Advantage Clemson. Possible compromise: USC.

In the end I still feel like he's going to Clemson.

USuC talking points...

Dec 20, 2011, 9:07 AM

But not the truth, he was a "silent" commit to UF. The ONLY team helped by his delay would be Clemson. The Shrine Bowl is making him rethink his choices(UF or CU). PS I guess you missed the part where more pro bowlers come from the ACC than any other conference.(great recruiting tool).BESIDES a defensive coordinator fleeing a probation ready program is not a great recruiting tool.

I beleive that, since he is the one that has to spend 3 to 5 years at a school. It should be his choice to where he wants to go, and his choice alone. If he goes to where his inner feelings tell him, that will be the right place....

I think he's just high on Florida since that's the last school he took an official visit to. I think once he weighs the pros and cons of his choices, he'll pick Clemson (fingers crossed).

Re: Recruit Update: Bullard says position coach and mom

Dec 20, 2011, 1:36 AM

DE Jonathan Bullard of Shelby, NC said after the Shrine Bowl Saturday afternoon USC head coach Steve Spurrier never did make it to his house this week to visit with his parents while he was in Spartanburg. He did say Gamecock defensive line coach Brad Lawing did visit the house as did assistants from Clemson and Florida. Clemson's Dabo Swinney was the only head coach of the final three schools to make an in home visit. Bullard said the fact Spurrier and Florida's Will Muschamp did not make it in to see him is not a factor in his decision. "I'm not worried about that," he said. "I'm going to be with my position coach the most, so that's what I care about." Bullard said all three remain in the running. Last Monday Bullard said he was about 70 percent sure of his decision, and Saturday he said that remains the case. "I always take into consideration what my mom thinks," Bullard said. "I'm going to go home and see how she feels, and if we're on the same page, then we'll know where we're going." Bullard said he did not talk to any recruiters this week. "I just took the week off just to get my mind straight and have fun."

You won't find a better DE coach than Marion Hobby

Gotta get this guy!! He could basically walk in and compete

Dec 20, 2011, 8:22 AM

for a starting job right away. He's that good and that much better than what we'll have left after this year.

If what the experts say about him is true. He can go any where and compete for starting spot. From what I've read, he is as good as they come at this point in his career.
