Alabama ain’t bumping a conference champ with the same amount of losses.

4 best teams. Eye test. Clear #1 all year.

Conference champs is one criteria for closely ranked teams. Clemson and ND would be in, no question. UGA clearly in as well beating Bama and SEC champ with one loss.
Then you have Michigan vs. Bama and potentially a random Big 12 winner with one loss. Ignoring the Big 12, you have one team with a loss to the SEC champion and probable number 3 team, and one team with a blowout loss to start the year to the number 2 team. Bama would have to be viewed as clearly worse than Michigan to have the conference championship over a crappy Big 10 team mean anything - and that ain’t happening.

Conference championships weigh heavy in the rankings. If a team has one loss and a conference title they ain’t getting jumped by any one loss team that didn’t win their conference.
Last season the only other one loss teams besides Alabama was Wisconsin who lost their conference title game.

It’s doubtful to happen, but we’ll see.

No way Michigan gets in over Bama; I’d bet whatever you want on that.

I wouldn’t be surprised with the love the committee has shown Alabama so I wouldn’t bet on it but I’d like to think they would go with the conference champion with the same record.

I guess you’re thinking ND gets jumped by conference winners Mich and UGA? I could see that but I think it should look like this. Notre Dame has played a good enough schedule that if they go undefeated they should be in and higher ranked than one loss teams. They play pretty much all FBS teams while a lot of these other programs are facing 2-3 cupcakes a season.
1. Clemson 2. Notre Dame 3. Michigan 4. Georgia

I would say, Notre Dame, because they don't play a championship game. That is, of course, if Bama loses to Auburn, then loses to Georgia, this is how it looks; Notre Dame would jump a 2 loss Bama, but not a 1 loss Bama. If Clemson wins the title game they are in. If Georgia wins it, they get in. If Michigan wins it, they get in.

especially if ND blows out Sorrycuse and USC. ND won the head to head. It wouldn’t shock me if either UGA or ND got #1 seed

If you lose a play-in game this late in the season, you shouldn't get in. Bama should not get in if they lose to Georgia.
We should not get in if we lose to Pitt.

There is no play in game. The 4 best teams are selected based on the entire body of work.
